==============
1a. The Forest
==============

When you reach the forest you'll get a phone call from Big Boss. Go
right. Wait for the guy behind the jeep to fall asleep and then
punch him thrice. When you get to the dogs go toward the top one and
punch them or run. When you see the two paths below go to the one on
the right. When you see the dog carefully walk behind it and kill it.
Go dwon. Go to the to the right where the solider can't see you and wait
for the soldier to fall asleep, and then give him three good whacks.
If you wish to get the binoculars, go into the truck next to the guy.

Go down and off to the left behind the bush. Wait for when neither
is looking. Then get the one on the top and take his space. Wait for
the bottom guy to turn away and kill him. If the bottom guy spots you
position yourself near where the top guy was, wait for him to run up,
and give him three punches. Go down and kill the dog from above.
Go down (the other ways do nothing. Run up to the front of the
building and when one guy looks away kill him and go down. When you
get to the truck sneak around and kill the guards. Go into the top
truck and get the LV1 security card. Go into the bottom one when you
come out and it'll take off. Wait until the guard says it's your turn
and go into the door.

======================
1b. The First Building
======================

When you get inside watch for guards. Go
up-right and get past the guard into the door for a gasmask. Be
careful, a guard is closely watching it. Go back down and carefully
all the way left until you hit the wall and start going up. You
will probably get caught at some point but keep your cool and punch
everyone or run off to another screen. When you reach the area
guarded by the triangle formation of guard and go up go up the
RIGHT SIDE of the LEFT PASSAGE. When you reach the next room
(with the metal crates) wait for the guard to say it's your turn
(to do what?) and then go in through the green doors. In the next
room, walk into what looks like a whasing machine (it's an elevator)
and press up twice. Now go right. Be careful of the surveilance
cameras in the next room. Slip down via the left passage with
utmost care. In the next screen sneak in through the door on the
lower left. Pick up the box for ammunition. Go down through the
next passage to find a POW. Walk up to him to free him. Go right into
the next room, and put on your gas mask right when you get in. Make
your way to the end and stand right in front of the door. Take your
card out again and get right out. Watch out for the security camera
in the next room. Go into the lower door to find another POW. You'll
get some of the plot and then can leave. Go right through the hall.
Go up into the door. Watch out for the giant roller, which can crush
you. When you get out continue right to find a room with two very good
guards. Wait for the left one to turn around and then sock him. The
other guard will probably see you, so just into the middle crevice and
wait for him to come. Then just press up once and run. The swarm of
guards should hit you. Continue right. Go through the bottom right
door carefully (there's a sruveilance camera over it and the other
door). Inside, you'll find Card #2. Switch from Card #1 to #2. Now,
go back outside and through the top door to find rations. If you take
them, leave, and come back they'll be there again, but the maximum
amount you can carry at this point is three. Now go back left until
you get to a doorway. When you go in you'll see the familar roller.
Wait for it to go left and quickly run out the bottom door. Go left
again and go into the top-left door in the room to find the Remote
Control Missle. Go all the way back. (you can pick up some more
rations when you get back to where you were). Go up a screen. You'll
get a call from Big Boss telling you that there's an electric floor
that you'll have to put out with the Remote Control Missle. Go into
weapons and take out your missles. Now steer them through the maze
into the grey and purple thing (what it is I don't know). Now that
it's safe, you can go up. The guard there are tricky. Use your best
judgement to get around them. Take the right passage up. Lean right
so the guard can't see you. If you go up the elevator you'll get a
call from Big Boss. He says that you can't get through without a Bomb
Blast Suit. You'll have to come back later. Naturally, you'll have to
take the elevator below where you were. Don't go straight down from
the very bottom floor or you'll be killed by a trap door (end tape).

2a. Version History
===================

Version 1.0 ()- Started this FAQ, headed by me, Magician Type 0.

=====================
2b. About the Authors
=====================

MAGICIAN TYPE 0 is a frequent contributor of reviews to GameFAQs. I
write both reviews and FAQs.

JAMES MALLOY has never submitted an independant work. However, he did
work on my Dynamite Cop FAQ with me, and is working on an FAQ for the
You vs. Boo part of Super Mario Brothers DX by himself. Good luck with
that.

======================
2c. How it was written
======================

It's quite simple. Either me or James was playing, and we'd record it
on a VHS tape.

======================
2d. Why it was written
======================

1. I miss working on my Dynamite Cop FAQ, and this was a similar
feeling.

2. The other FAQ was simply questions and answers.

3. I really love this game.

====================================
3a. Questions I'll answer beforehand
====================================

- Q: Where can I get a Metal Gear ROM and/or NES emulator?
A: FROM SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME. If you email me this question I'll
have you blocked from my email.

- Q: Why not?
A: 1. This guide would never be posted. 2. I don't like the idea.
3. If you want to play this game illegally I don't want to be a part
of that.

- Q: Can I help? How? Will I receive credit?
A: Certainly! Email me at webmaster@casog.zzn.com with text/Moving GIF
that helps and you will receive as much or as little recognition as you
like. If you wish, I'll even put in a short, UNOFFENSIVE message that
you write!

- Q: How do I get past (insert game part here)?
A: Wait until the next update. If it's not in this guide now I either
don't know or will add the information shortly.

- Q: I submitted a tip. Why isn't it anywhere in this guide?
A: 1. It's already in the FAQ, 2. I already knew and the info will be
in the next update, 3. I haven't looked at your email yet, or 4. It
is and the latest update isn't up yet.

- Q: Will this guide help me with the MSX version of Metal Gear?
A: It should, they're basically the same. However, there are a few
slight differences between the two, so don't send me nasty emails about
it.
