I. Introduction
Maybe some of you have asked yourselves: Why I wrote a guide about a stupid and
really old shooter instead of the Super Games of the actuality? Why the NES
instead of the PS2 or the NDS? Well mans (and maybe womans), I have mi GCN with
my MarioParty6 and a GBA with FFI&II: DawnOfSouls. But the thing is.... I
already complete 100% those game and one day I was really bored. Then, I checked
my Old Pal the NES and I remembered all the good things that I lived with him.
So, what I did next? Play with him. And that is the cause of this Guide (And my
next 1943 FAQ)
1942 was the first shooter I have played on my life. It was good in his time. I
liked it so much; I played it all the nights until 4:00 am. I was a li'l kiddo
then.
Ah... the memories.... But enough about that.... Let's begin with the FAQ... ok?

II.Cartridge Review
Title: 1942
Console: NES
Company: Capcom
Release Year: 1985
Note: Use this FAQ only for the NES game.I haven't played the Arcade game yet,
so I don't know how the gameplay is.
III.Story
Is the year 1942, in middle of the WorldWarII. You command an AirForce to stop
the enemy's attack. Really simple.I don't know what country are your army: USA
or Japan. Very confuse, because Capcom is a Japanese company. I think that
depends of the game... Oh well...

IV. Controls
Control Pad - Move your plane
A button - Makes your plane invincible for a few seconds
B button - Shoot
Start Button - Start the game/Pause
Select Button - Choose your mode of play

V. Essentials
First of all, you are going to choose a mode of play. Here are the 3 modes:
1 player - Start a 1 player game
2 player - Start a 2 player game. Each player takes turns to play.
Continue - This mode is only active when you lose all your lives. Lets you
continue the game, starting from the last mission you have played.
The game basic is simple: Shoot to all. There is no allies in this game, so you
have liberty for shooting down all the planes that you will see.
When you are about to finish a Stage, you will see a large aircraft carrier. In
this moment all the enemies will explode. Why? I don't know. I think your
friends on the ship shoot down all the planes for you. Then, you will finish the
stage. At the end you will receive the percent of accuracy of the shoots you
have made, and a Bonus if you still have Retreats. 1000 points for Retreat.Yo
also receive a bonus for your accuracy. For example, if you have 87% of
accuracy, you will receive a 8000 point bonus.I don't know how they calculate
the points for the bonus, but take it anyway.
While you are playing, you will notice an R in the screen. That's the number of
Retreats you have. To use a retreat, press the A button. Retreats make you
invincible for a few seconds.
Sometimes, a lonely green plane will pass in the right or left of the screen.
Shoot it down for a bonus of 5000 pints.
Some stages have a boss plane. The Boss plane is REALLY, REALLY HUGE and a
really pain in the ass, too. For more information, go to the enemies secion.
There are a special group of Yellow Planes. If you shoot all these, you will
receive a powerup. For more information of the powerups, go to Powerup section.
Finally, there are NO SAVE MODE on this game. So you will have to complete the
32 stages without quitting the game.

VI. Enemies list
I list the enemies in order of appearance
-Little Gray plane-
Score: 50 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 1
Description:Zzzzzzzzzz... Huh? Those planes are really a joke; just give it a
kick in the ass and you will win. Simple
-Medium Double Engine Green planes-
Score: 100 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 5
Description: A bit more difficult, but still easy. These are a bit slow, so you
have no problem with these.
-Yellow Bonus Planes-
Score: 100 points for each one+500 points for all the group
Shoots you will need to kill it: 1 for each one
Description: These are the little guys you are looking for. They always come in
groups of five, fly around the screen a little and then go away. If you manage
to kill the five planes, you will receive a Powerup. See the powerup section for
more information.
-Little Green Planes-
Score: 50 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 1
Description: Another joke, another kick in the ass. The difference with the Gray
ones is that the Green planes pursuit you, while the Gray ones don't.
-Big Green Plane-
Score: 2000 points (Varies within each stage)
Shoots you will need to kill it: 10
Description: I hate those guys. They always come from below you, so I don't
recommend you to stay down the screen all the time. You will never know when one
of these will appear. And the little planes will obstruct you. Finally the
little guys have a purpose on the life, isn't it?
-Medium Double Engine Gray Planes-
Score: 1000 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 5
Description: Seems to be that Capcom liked so much the color changes. These are
exactly the same as the Medium Double Engine Green Planes, so don't worry about
it.
-Medium Gray Plane-
Score: 1000 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 5
Description: I'm starting to get bored. The same thing about the Double Engine
Medium Planes. A few shoots and let it go down to the hell. It's even slower.
-Medium Green Plane-
Score: 1000 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 5
Description: Honestly, all that stuff about colors are getting me mad. Same
thing with the one mentioned above.
-Double Engine Small Green/Gray plane-
Score: 50 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 1
Description: Capcom doesn't have imagination on those years, right? Is the same
as the stupid li'l planes. Shoot'em all. Only a bit faster.
-Stealth planes-
Score: 50 point
Shoots you will need to kill it: 1
Description: At first glance, seems to be a Boomerang. The Stealth Plane is so
easy as the small ones. The difference is that the Stealth plane is green at
first and then become gray. A bit more difficult because they shot first, then
make a Kamikaze Attack towards you (Who else? :P).
-Boss plane-
Score: 20000 points
Shoots you will need to kill it: 35-40-45-50
Description: Its time to meet the big daddy. A HUGE plane. Is somewhat easy to
kill, only worry about yourself crashing on the plane wings and pressing fast as
you can that damned button.

VII. Powerups
You recognize a powerup when you kill a Yellow Plane Squad and see in the screen
an item that says (Prepare for a Shock): POW (Doh!).There are 5 types of they:
Green POW - Gives your plane 4 shoots instead of 2 at the same time
White/Red POW - Makes all the enemies on the screen says KABOOM! :P
White POW - Gives you 2 allies for help! At last, we see that you aren't alone
on this war. Your allies can shoot 1 ammo at time, combined with the Green POW
gives you a grand total of... 6 shoots!!
Red/Orange POW: Gives you another Retreat
Red POW: This is rare. Gives you another life.
All the POWS give you 1000 points. Getting a Powerup that you already have give
you only points. And if you have lost an ally and get a White POW, you don't get
it back. You gonna lose all your allies for taking another 2 more.

VIII. Fast-Guide of the game
Here is a Fast guide for the levels. I am based on the backgrounds.
Stage 1
Keep shooting the little fellas until you see a Medium Plane and a Yellow Squad.
Get the second first (!! Confuse order!!)to gain a Green Powerup, then kill the
Medium plane. Again, keep shooting until you see a Large Plane. Kill it and soon
you will reach an island. Here you will fight a Medium Plane. Then comes another
Yellow Squad. Take it down to receive another Green Powerup. Keep shooting the
planes until you reach the second island and then to the Aircraft Carrier to
finish the stage.
Stage 2
Again, keep shooting the little planes until you see a Medium Plane. Kill it and
continue shooting. Soon the mysterious Lonely Green Plane will arrive. Kill it
for a whopping 5000 points. Just then, a Large Plane makes appearance. Kill it,
too. When you reach the island, a Yellow Squad will show up. Gather the
Red/White powerup and make exploit those dumb planes. Kill the Medium plane.
Keep going until you reach the second island. A Large Plane is here. Once you
have killed it, you will reach the Aircraft Carrier and finish the stage.
Stage 3
Just when you are beginning, 2 Medium Planes will attack. Take care of them.Then
a Yellow Squad and a Large Plane are here to celebrate. Kill the first one first
(??) to receive a White Powerup and allies. Take care of the Large Plane.
Immediately another 2 Medium Planes attack you. Kill them both and you will
reach to an island. Another Yellow Squad an a Large Plane are waiting for you
here.Kill the first to take another White Powerup, then send the Large Plane to
the Hell. Keep going until you reach the second island and then, by the Carrier,
the Lonely plane will show up. Kill it, receive your 500 points and finish the
stage.
Stage 4
Immediately kill the Medium plane.Then kill the Yellow Squad for a Bomb Powerup.
You know, the Red/White one. Kill the stupid planes and then kill the 2 Medium
Planes coming from below. Then kill the Large plane. A little planes later, you
will see again that stupid Lonely plane, just gather your 5000 points.Then go
directly to the Carrier.
Stage 5
Shoot down the Yellow Squad first and the Medium planes next. Gather your Life
POW and kill another Yellow Squad for a Green POW. Keep going and you will reach
finally to a continent. Smash down the Large Plane here. When you reach to the
small lake, kill the Medium Plane, then the Yellow Squad for another Green POW.
In the second and third lakes, you will face the Lonely plane and 2 Medium
planes. In the fourth lake, another Large Plane is waiting you. Kick the plane
butt and continue forward. You will reach the sea and your carrier.
Stage 6
Keep going and you will reach another continent. Here kill the Lonely plane and
the 2 Medium Planes. In the lake, there is a Yellow Squad who will reward you
with a Retreat POW. Then kill the 3 Medium Planes that come in from below. At
the second and third lakes, another Yellow Squad with another Retreat POW will
be there. Smash down the squad and, again, kill the 3 Medium planes that are
coming from below. At the fourth lake, kill the Large Plane. Keep going until
you reach the sea and then to your Carrier
Stage 7
I don't know how the Carrier can't kill the 2 Medium Planes that are flying over
it. Anyways, kill them both and shoot a third one. Take down the Yellow Squad
for an Ally POW. Get it and you will reach another continent (How many
continents have our world? :P). At the beach (Say that word in front of your Mom
or your girlfriend and see what happens. :P) you will fight another Large Plane.
Then kill the 3 Medium Planes. At the first lake, kill the Yellow Squad to gain
another Ally POW. Then kill the 3 Medium Planes. You will reach the sea.Then,
mysteriously, all the planes are dead. Why? I don't know. But prepare for a...
*********** BOSS BATTLE 1 *******************
This Boss is going to be easy. Just remain down his Right Wing and keep shooting
as fast as you can. Trust me, is really easy. After he begins to disappear, you
will reach your Carrier.
Stage 8
At the beginning, 3 Medium Planes come out to reward you for killing their boss.
Shoot'em all. A bit far of there, a Yellow Squad is waiting for you. Kill it and
you will receive a Bomb POW.Use it to blast away the planes. Then, 4 Medium
Planes are coming from below. Kill them. The rest of the stage is filled with
Small Planes and the Lonely Plane. Blast away all as you can , so you can reach
the Carrier.
Stage 9
Immediately go to the center of the screen, because 2 Medium Planes are going to
come below. Then, a Yellow Squad is here to reward you with a Green POW. When
you reach the continent, 3 Medium Planes come to attack. Reaching to the West
Lake, a Yellow Squad is waiting. They give you a Green POW. Then, by the river,
a Lonely plane with a Large Plane are there. Smash'em down.All that remains are
Small Planes. Keep dodging and land on your Carrier.
Stage 10
At the start, kill the 3 Medium Planes. When you reach the beach, a Large Plane
will appear. Shoot it down. By the river, a Lonely Plane will show up. Kill it
and take your 5000 points (Seems to be that their only purpose on the life is
giving us points, right?) and also kill the Yellow Squad, is nearby of you. Get
the retreat POW and kill the 3 Medium planes from below. A bit far away, shoot
the Large Plane for 8000 points. Then, keep killing the Small Planes and land on
your carrier to finish the stage.
Stage 11
Quickly, go to the side of the screen, because 3 Medium planes are coming by the
center. Kill them all. Then kill the Yellow Squad nearby to gain an Ally POW.
Use your new power to blast the Large Plain for 8500 points. In the continent
river, kill the 3 Medium planes. Then, in the West Lake, kill the Yellow Squad
for another Ally POW. Then kill the other 3 medium planes. When you see the
beach, shoot the Lonely Plane. Then head to the carrier to finish the stage.
Stage 12
At the start, kill the Yellow Squad for a Bomb POW. I recommend save that POW
for the 3 next Medium Planes. Then, kill another Yellow Squad for another Bomb
POW. Now kill the next 4 Medium Planes. A Lonely Plane is just about 20 seconds
of there. Once you have the points, kill the Large Plane. Then continue all the
way to the Carrier and finish the stage.
Stage 13
At the start, kill the 2 Medium Planes and the Yellow Squad to gain the rare
Life POW. Then kill another Yellow Squad to gain a Green POW. At the island,
kill the Large Plane. Then kill the 3 Medium Planes. By the second island, shoot
the Yellow Squad to gather a Green POW. Between the second and third islands,
you will find a Large Plane. Kill it for 9000 points. Then keep killing the
planes. Beware of the Stealth planes. By the carrier, the Lonely plane make its
appearance. Kill for a whopping 5000 point and then finish the stage.
Stage 14
First of all, kill the Yellow Squad for a Bomb POW. Smash the planes here. By
the island, kill the 2 Medium Planes. Between the 2nd and 3rd islands, you will
fight 2 Medium Planes. By here is also the Lonely Plane. In the 3rd island you
will encounter a Large Plane. Kill it. The rest of the stage is mal planes.
Reach the carrier and finish the stage.
Stage 15
At the start, kill the 3 Medium Planes and the Yellow Squad for points and an
Ally POW. By the island, kill the Large Plane and the 3 Medium Planes. When you
reach the second island, go to the side of the screen to avoid 3 Medium planes.
Here be careful with the stealth planes. Then, prepare for a.....
************* BOSS BATTLE 2*****************
Ok, this one is a bit difficult, but still easy. Only 5 shoots away from the
first one. Again, use the Right Wing Strategy and press the button quickly.
Soon, the big one will go down. Continue heading for the carrier to finish the
stage.
Stage 16
Again, kill the Yellow Squad to receive a Bomb POW. Then kill the Large Plane to
receive... 10000 points! Later, you will fight 3 Medium Planes. Then, 20 seconds
later, kill the Lonely Plane and the Large Plane (Seems to be that the Lonely
Planes aren't lonely anymore). The rest of the stage is simple. Reach the
carrier to finish the stage.
Stage 17
Kill the 2 Medium Planes and the 2 Yellow Squads to receive a Life POW and a
Green POW. Then kill the Large Plane. By the shore there is a Medium Plane.
Eliminate it. Then kill the Yellow Squad and the Lonely plane to receive a Green
POW and points. In the first lake you will fight 2 Medium planes. Then kill the
Large Plane. The rest of the stage are small planes. Reach to the carrier to
finish the stage.
Stage 18
Kill the 3 Medium planes. Then kill the Large Plane. Again, kill another 3
Medium planes and a Yellow Squad to receive a Retreat POW. Then. By the lakes,
kill the Large Plane. In the sea you will find a Lonely Plane. You know what to
do. If you don't, close the window, power off your PC, pack every piece or
manual of it and take it to the PC Store. Tell them you don't understand how to
read something. They answer you that you are so stupid to have a Computer.
Anyways, be careful with the Stealth planes. Soon you will reach to your carrier
and finish the stage.
Stage 19
Go to the side of the screen to avoid 3 Medium planes and then kill them. Kill
the Yellow Squad to receive an Ally POW. Use your li'l partners to destroy the
Large Plane. In the shore, kill the 2 Medium planes. Near of here is a Yellow
Squad. Kill it to gain an Ally POW. By the lake, you will fight a Lonely plane
and a set of 3 Medium Planes. Kill them all. Then, when you reach the sea again,
you will see a Large Plane. Kill it. Finally kill al the Small planes until you
reach the Carrier to finish the level
Stage 20
Kill the Yellow Squad nearby to Gain a Bomb POW. Then kill another one to gain
another one of those Bomb POWs. Kill the Lonely plane and the 4 Medium planes.
After awhile of dodging Small Planes, you will reach the carrier and the stage
exit.
Stage 21
Kill the 2 Medium Planes and the 2 Yellow Squads to receive a Life/Green POW. In
the continent you will face a Large Plane. Kill it. You will face a group of 3
Medium Planes and a Yellow Squad. Kill them and gather the Green POW. By the
lake you will fight another Large Plane. You know what to do. In the ocean, kill
the Lonely plane. Then head toward the carrier and finish the stage.
Stage 22
Kill the 3 Medium planes. When you reach to the shore, you will find a Large
Plane. Kill it (I don't know why the enemy army is spending lots of cash only to
kill a li'l plane). Later you will find a Yellow Squad, who will reward you with
a Retreat POW. After the POW 3 Medium Planes and a Lonely Plane will be there.
Kill them. Then by the lake there is another Large Plane. Shoot it down. Be
careful with the Stealth Planes around here. Then, you will reach your carrier.
Stage 23
At the start, watch over those 3 Mediums Planes. Then kill the Yellow Squad to
receive an Ally POW. In the shore, you will fight a Large Plane. Kill it. Then,
3 Medium Planes makes their appearance. Then, in the other side, kill the Yellow
Squad for an Ally POW. Then shoot the 3 Medium Planes. In the sea, be careful
with the Stealth Planes (How many times I said that?). Then prepare for....
************** BOSS BATTLE 3 ******************
Honestly, this fella is buggering me. The Boss plane is still easy. The
difference is: you will need 45 shoots to kill it. And that suggest: The Final
Boss will need 50 shoots to kill it. Anyways, use the same strategy as the
others and you will be fine. Now go to the Carrier and finish the stage.
Stage 24
Kill the Yellow Squad to get a Bomb POW. Don't use it yet, save it for the 3
Medium Planes and the Lonely Plane. Then, a bit ahead, kill the other Yellow
Squad to gain the other Bomb POW. Again, save it for the 4 Medium Planes. Next,
kill the Large Plane. Keep shooting the Small Planes and the Lonely Plane who
comes next. Then, go to the Carrier to finish the Stage.
Stage 25
Begin killing the 2 Medium Planes. Oh, by the way, at this time you should have
999999 points (If you haven't lost). Once you get a point more, your score
counter will be reset to zero. Yes, I know what you are thinking: "Those Capcom
Guys are sons of a ..... " Well, bad thing of Capcom, if you asked me.
Anyways, after the Medium Planes Death, kill the Yellow Squad to receive a Green
POW. In the beach, shoot the Large Plane. Then, kill the 3 Medium Planes. By the
rivers intersection, attack the Yellow Squad and the Lonely Plane to receive a
Green POW. Then kill the Large Plane. The rest of the Stages are Small Planes.
Reach to the carrier and finish the stage.
Stage 26
In. this stage the Small Planes finally become a menace for you. Hurrah! Kill
the 3 Medium Planes (What country is the enemy? Must be a very rich one). Then
kill a Lonely Plane with a Large Plane. By the river, shoot the Yellow Squad to
receive a Retreat POW. Along the river you will fight 3 Medium Planes. Then,
kill the Large Plane. Beware of the Stealth Planes (Again, this becomes very
repetitive). Reaching the Carrier you will find the Lonely Plane. Kill it and
finish the stage.
Stage 27
As always, kill the 3 Medium Planes. By the beach, kill the Yellow Squad to
receive an Ally POW. Then kill the Large Plane. In the river, kill the set of 3
Medium Planes. And kill the Yellow Squad, too. You will receive another Ally
POW. The rivers end is home to 3 Medium Planes and a Large Plane. Ending the
continent is the Lonely Plane. Be careful of the Small Planes (Yes, you hear me
right. The little guys are going mad starting from this level). Finally, reach
to the Carrier to finish the stage.
Stage 28
The end of the game is near, so don't give up. At the start kill the Yellow
Squad to gain a Bomb POW. Save it for the 2 Medium Planes that are approaching.
Then, kill the other Yellow Squad for another Bomb POW. Again, save it for the 5
(!!) Medium Planes. Then kill the Lonely Plane and the Large Plane. The rest of
the stage is Small Planes. Reach to the carrier to finish the stage.
Stage 29
Almost in the end. Now you will notice that the Planes are all Metallic. That
point only gives the planes a cooler look, but no defense. Good for you. As
always, kill the Medium Planes. Then kill the Yellow Squad to receive a Green
POW. And when you reach the continent.... Surprise!! I am not referring to the
new City Continent, instead of it I was referring to I, who finally don't give
you orders to kill some Stupid Plane reaching to the continent. By the yellow
dots (I didn't find name to call them), kill the set of Medium Planes. Then kill
the Yellow Squad to find a Green POW. In this zone be careful with the Stealth
Planes (You can't see them easily), then go for the Large Plane. The rest of the
Stage are Small Planes, but be careful this time. Keep using Retreats and your
will Survive. Trust Me.
Stage 30
Very Near. Kill the Yellow Squad. Don't gather the Bomb POW yet. Save it for 2
Medium Planes. In the City, be very careful with the Stealth Planes. Nearby a
lake, 3 Medium Planes is waiting you. Kill them. Then kill the Large Plane. The
rest of the Stage is a LOT of Small planes and bullets. If you survive this
hell, land onto the carrier to finish the stage
Stage 31
Very Very Near. As always, kill the set of Medium Planes. Then kill the Yellow
Squad to receive an Ally POW. Use it to demolish the Large Plane. Nearby is the
Lonely Plane. Kill it (Seems to be I am a Killer, I use the word kill many times
on this FAQ). Then kill the Yellow Squad for another Ally POW. Then kill the set
of Medium Planes. Finally, prepare for....
************ FINAL BOSS ***********
The same thing with the others. Go to the Right Wing of the boss and press the B
button as fast you can. Then, the big Daddy will explode. Easy, right?
Stage 32
At last! The Last Stage. Don't give up now, boy! Kill the Medium Plane, then
shoot down the Yellow Squad and save up the Bomb POW for a set of Medium Planes.
Then, kill the Lonely Plane. The rest of the stage a
