2. Introduction
================
Jurassic Park 2 reminds me a lot of the old Contra games, in that fact
that it is a side scrolling shooter. The only real difference between
the two is that in this game you are fighting against dinosaurs and
people while in Contra you are fighting against aliens and machines. Of
course there are many other differences, but that is the main one that
sticks out to me.

There is something about this game I really like. I am not sure. It is
just enjoyable to an extent. Sure some things are repetitive, and can
get boring, this game has some kind of potential. The music is great
and defiantly sets a mood. The graphics are decent. The main problem
with this game is that it is somewhat lengthy, and does not offer a
save or a password option, which forces you to play through the whole
game at once. Now this can get really annoying after awhile since I
like to play a lot of games for a little bit and then I have other
things I really need to do. This is also going to cause a lot of
problems when writing this FAQs/walkthrough, since every time I want to
write more information about it; I am going to have to start at the
beginning. This might mean that it will take some time to get this
document completed.

3. About FAQs
==============
This FAQs was written in a simple format I designed. I am sure there
have been other FAQs like this one, though, and this format is probably
not an original idea. I have used a = for major breaks and a - for
minor breaks. I have also have put 72 characters per one line to
optimize printing and viewing capabilities. I believe that you should
be able to view this file correctly on Microsoft Notepad or other plain
text editing programs.

Please, any problems and suggestions about this document, contact me. I
am open to your opinions and interested what people have to say.

=======================================================================
4. Strategies
==============
There are several great strategies that you can use in the game. I have
listed a couple down below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lost?
------
If you get lost, I usually just travel all the way right (sometimes it
is left if you cannot travel right) until I reach a dead end, and then
I take the first path up from that dead in. This works well when you
are traveling in the jungle.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Raptor Jump
------------
The best way to get past a Raptor when it is attacking you is to jump
over it. You must get this timing down if you plan to get anywhere in
the game. Ducking under them doesn't usually work since then they will
attack low. Be prepared to jump! This is a great strategy to get to
know how to use, since there are an awful lot of Raptors in this game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lethal & Non-Lethal
--------------------
Get to know which one works best for what enemies or situations.
Sometimes it is easier to use the Snare Gun to take out a Raptor then
to hit it with the Charge Gun, since it takes time to charge it up.
Other times you will need to use a rapid-fire gun. Know how to switch
between them fast as well. This is important for levels that deal with
people and dinosaurs. Remember, use non-lethal weapons against
dinosaurs or your count will fall too low and you will automatically
fail the mission.

=======================================================================
5. Weapons
===========
When you begin you get three lethal and three non-lethal weapons. For
people, the only weapons that work against them are lethal ones. For
dinosaurs, however, you can use either one, except when you kill a
dinosaur with a lethal weapon, except for the Raptors, your dino count
on the top of the screen will go down. If it gets too low, then you
will automatically fail your mission. I have labeled these weapons as
best as possible.

 /-------------------------------\
Lethal
-------------------------------
-> Rifle
-> Machine Gun
-> Snare Gun
===============================
Non-Lethal
-------------------------------
-> Charge Gun
-> Tranquilizer Dart
-> Tranquilizer Missile
-> Super Tranquilizer Missile
 \-------------------------------/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rifle
------
This weapon is your weakest lethal weapon. It has a slow rate of fire
and does a small amount of damage. The only good thing about it is that
you never run out of ammo on it. It lasts forever, so if you run out of
ammo on your other guns, then you will need to use this until you can
find more ammo.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Machine Gun
------------
The Machine Gun is a rappid fire lethal weapon. It works great and
takes down enemies fast. The only problem with it is that you end up
using ammo quickly. Picking up ammo for this weapon will add a 100 more
bullets to your inventory.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Snare Gun
----------
This is probably my favorite and what I would consider the most useful
weapon in the game. This gun is powerful and can take out most enemies
with one or two shots. It shoots out three bullets at the same time
that spread out over a distance. Picking up ammo for this gun will give
you 20 more shots.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Charge Gun
-----------
This is the first non-lethal weapon in the set. It does not use up any
ammo so you can always use it. If you hold down the shoot button, then
it will charge up. It does three different sizes of charge.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tranquilizer Dart
------------------
This is just like the machine gun, except it is non-lethal.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tranquilizer Missile
---------------------
This shoots out a missile that can take down dinos. It can be useful at
times, but the explosion it causes can hurt you. When you pick up ammo,
it will give you 20 more missiles. I don't really like this gun that
much, though.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Super Tranquilizer Missile
---------------------------
These you get after the fourth emergency mission. It is just like the
regular tranq missile, except that it is stronger. You start out with
no ammo on it, though, and you only get one ammo when you pick up ammo
for it.

=======================================================================
6. Missions
============
These are the regular missions you have to play through. On the mission
screen you will get to choose between any of these missions, meaning
that you do not have to do them in order, you can do them as you want
to do them. I shall just explain each mission as they were shown on the
mission screen, though to avoid confusion.

 /-----------------------------\
Mission Select
-----------------------------
a. Raptor Attack
b. T-Rex Carnage
c. Blockade
d. High Ptera
e. Seek And Destroy
f. Protect The Gallimimus
 \-----------------------------/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
a. Raptor Attack
-----------------
Mission briefing:
Raptors are attacking your headquarters.

Unfortunately due to the large Raptor population in the building
destroying them individually would take too long.

Gassing them is the only realistic solution.

Find the building's security system, activate the gas and then get out
before the gas takes its effect on you.
- End

This level is not too hard as long as you can get through the last part
of it. You do not have to deal with any people in this level, so
usually use non-lethal weapons, unless you need to use lethal on a
Raptor or two. The main hard part of this level is the number of
Raptors in it. There are a lot. If you know now to battle with Raptors
where you jump over then at the right time, then you should be all
right. Also, make sure to hold onto your Snare Gun ammo, since you will
end it for the end of the stage.

I will attempt to walk you through the level now.

The level starts in the jungle and the first thing you are doing is
looking for the headquarters building. After you walk a little bit you
will run into a Raptor or two. Then you will have to cross the pit by
using the vine. Once you get across there will be a couple of Compies
and then a few more Raptors. Then you will see a path. Watch out when
you are walking out of the path on the other side. A Raptor will attack
you right away, so be ready for it. Then follow the road, in which
there will be another Raptor or two on it. You will see another path.
Once you come out the other side, continue traveling. You should face
another couple of Raptors. Walk along the fence being careful of
Compies and you should find a health at the end and also the entrance
to headquarters.

This place can be rough, especially if you don't know how to deal with
Raptors. Don't forget that you can use lethal weapons on Raptors and
not have your dino count go down. Once inside the building, when you
are traveling to the right you should come in contact with a few
Raptors. Then there is a ladder and a Raptor at the top of it. Finish
off the Raptor while you are still on the ladder to make it easier and
then you will not even have to deal with it. Cross over the pit to find
a Spitter on the other side of it. Once past the Spitter, you should
find another ladder, and at the top if it there will be some Compies.
If you go all the way to the left you should find ammo. Then go back
and climb up the ladder that you pasted. To the right there are two
Spitters; take then out, and then there will be a couple of Raptors.
Once you get past these guys, you will find a health kit and ammo. Go
back and jump across the pit and grab onto the ladder. You will then
find a door. On the other side, there will be a pit. First go down into
it and take out the Spitter down there. He would have attempted to
shoot you when you crossed the pit. Now climb up the ladder and cross
the pit. On the other side there is a Raptor waiting for you, so be
ready to take him out before you jump off of the pipe. There are
probably a couple more Raptors, but keep traveling right, past the
ladder, because there is ammo that way. Once you find the ammo come
back and climb the ladder you pasted. There should be a Raptor at the
top of it and take him out before you get off of the ladder. The next
ladder you see, climb it and you will find a Spitter at the top, then
jump across the pit and fall down to kill the Spitters. Cross the pit
on the pipe. There should be some Compies at the end. Climb the ladder
on the far wall, but be careful because if you don't get up there fast
enough, the Raptor at the top will sometimes jump down and take you
out. There should be a couple of Raptors up ahead. Climb the ladder to
get to the health. Then you should cross the pit and take out the
Spitter. Then go through the door. Here you will find some Compies and
you will have to then cross a pit. In the pit there are Raptors, but
you don't have to fight them if you just decide to cross it using the
pipe. There is a Spitter once you get across the pit. Then climb the
ladder. There is a Raptor at the top. Now climb the next ladder and
there are a couple of Raptors here. Now there is another ladder and a
Spitter. Jump over to the left ladder and then go left once you get to
the top of it. There are a couple of Raptors and then a door.

Now you are to the place where you are going to have to gas out the
building. There are some health kits so you can go through it with full
health. Once you pass the control panel you will active the gas. You
will have to act fast before the whole building is gassed out. Make
sure to equip the Snare Gun, since you mostly will be facing Raptors
once you active the gas. I shall tell you the way to go to get out of
the building.

Once the gas is activated, fall down the first pit you come to. There
are a lot of Raptors down there. Attempt to take them out quickly with
the Snare Gun. Run to the right. You should find a ladder on the side
of the wall. Climb it. Now you are in a narrow opening, and there will
be some Raptors in there. Be ready for them. Now fall down the wall and
keep running right. You should find a pit that has a pipe across it.
Cross the pit using the pipe. Now climb the ladder on the wall and keep
running down the narrow hallway. When you get to the end of it, you
will have completed the mission!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
b. T-Rex Carnage
-----------------
Mission Briefing:
Reports have been coming in that Biosyn have destroyed the paddock
fence containing the T-Rex. The T-Rex is the park's most dangerous
dinosaur and will destroy anything that gets in its path.

Stop it before it causes too much damage.
- End

This level is one of the easiest ones and probably one of the shortest
ones. It is not too difficult since you are only dealing with dinosaurs
and there are no humans in the level. That means that you only need to
use non-lethal weapons. The whole level is played in the jungle.

Start by traveling to the right. You should run right into a Raptor.
Then there is a block in the path. When you walk up to the block there
will be another Raptor ready to attack you. Let it jump over the block
and then attack it. Once over the block you should run into one more
Raptor, and then there will be a vine to cross over the pit. Once on
the other side you should already see the Compies running around, and
then walk to the right some more to find the next pit you must cross.
When you are crossing it, don't stop, because at the end there will be
a Raptor that will jump and try to knock you off, but if you just keep
holding right on the D-pad, then it should miss you. Now there is
another block and a Spitter right behind it. Jump onto the block and
then duck down to take care of it. Cross the pit up ahead and be
careful of Compies on the other side of it. Then there will be another
Spitter that is on a block, and after you take care of it and approach
the block you will find another Raptor. Continue right and when you get
to the path be ready for a Raptor to attack you before you can get to
it, then travel up the path.

Once you are on the other side, start running to the right. You should
be able to see the Compies on the other side of the block in the road.
Then cross the pit. When you get on the ground from crossing it, there
will be a Raptor ready to attack you. If you time it just right, it
should jump right into the pit. Keep walking right a little bit and be
careful for the Compy, then take the path up.

Now continue to the right some more. Right away you should find a
Raptor ready to attack you. Now cross the pit. Be careful of Compies on
the other side. Keep traveling past the fence. At the end of it there
should be yet another two Raptors to take out. Now there is more fence
area and of course more Compies. Once you get past the wave of Compies,
there is a Spitter sitting up on a block. At the end of the fence, be
prepared for a Raptor to attack you. Walk past the path traveling up
and take out the Raptor. At the end of the road there is a health. Now
walk back and take the path up. Now walk to the right and there is
another path, take it.

You will be in a screen where the T-Rex is. A jeep will pull up, so
jump on it and begin the chase. The T-Rex will race after you as you
are getting away. Use anything in your arsenal to keep pushing it back
or it will catch up to you. Also from the vines on the top there will
be guys shooting down on you. Just jump over their bullets, since it
takes too much time to dodge.

At the end of the case you will have to jump onto a vine and the jeep
will fall into a pit. There are many ways of telling when this is going
to come up. One is the music, but you would have already had to hear it
to know the point where you need to jump onto the vine. Another is to
count the guys that shoot you from the vines. You should go past 14 of
them before the big jump. Usually I jump over the bullet that the guys
on the vines shoot at you. If you have this constant reaction, you will
probably just make the big jump since you would have been prepared to
jump over the shots from a guy on the vine.

Anyway, if you die once, as long as you heard what the music gets like
before the jump, you can use the strategy, since sometimes it is hard
to count the guys that you go past.

Now cross the vine and drop onto the other side. The mission is
completed!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
c. Blockade
------------
Mission Briefing:
On the far side of the island a large part of the Biosyn task force has
taken control of one of your underground installations.

They are firmly dug-in and are erasing data on your computers.

Enter the installation and find a way to round their blockade.
- End

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
d. High Ptera
--------------
Mission Briefing:
Due to a fierce storm, the radio antenna used for communication with
the mainland is damgaged.

This has caused major disruptions with your supply line, so the antenna
dish must be repaired.

The route to the antenna is a high and dangerous path up the cliff
side, with a suspected Biosyn presence at the foot of the cliffs.
- End

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
e. Seek And Destroy
--------------------
Mission Briefing:
You suspect illegal breeding on the island due to the discovery of a
baby Raptor, hidden deep under the volcano.

The caves under the volcano are large so you have to attached a
transmitter to the baby Raptor and hope to track it back to the nest.

When you have found the nest you must plant the explosives and exit the
volcano before the blast destroys yourself.
- End

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
f. Protect The Gallimimus
--------------------------
Mission Briefing:
After finding a number of dead Gallimimus, you begin to suspect foul
play in the Gallimimus paddock.

Suspecting Biosyn you have set out to investigate the situation.

Biosyn have slaughtered a number of Gallimimus for their research on
DNA and are attempting to airlift some live Gallimimus out of the park.

You cannot allow this to happen.
- End

=======================================================================
7. Emergencies
===============
After every regular mission you do, after it you will run into an
emergency mission. All of these missions will have a time limit and
usually involve both dinosaurs and people.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
a. Scientist Radios For Help
-----------------------------
Mission Briefing:
One of your top scientists has broke down on his way back to the
control center.

Biosyn are after him because of his vital knowledge in the field of
dinosaur cloning.

You have lost communication with the scientist and his precise location
is unknown.

Find him before the Biosyn do.
- End

=======================================================================
8. Conclusion and Credits
==========================
I wrote this file by myself. I did it since I noticed that there were
not really any full walkthroughs for this game and I felt that I could
create a walkthrough for it since I own the game and I don't feel it is
too bad of a game. I know that it is incomplete at this time, but I am
sure I will be able to complete it sometime. It just takes a long time
to do it, since I have to start the game at the beginning all of the
time.

I also have gotten some help from my friend, who posts on the GameFAQs
boards under the handle, BurntToast. He has aided me with some of the
missions.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my FAQs!
