da wird man doch paranoid!ihr müsst euch vorstellen,das ganze wäre echtzeit!jeder sieht,wann und wohin ihr geht jederzeit! unschön!
jeder ami oder russe (nur als bsp)mit so nem teil sieht das!
voll die spionage!

aber was haltet ihr von dem teil an sich?
also eigentlich richtig genial!!
Ich brauchte Stunden bis ich
mein Haus gefunden hatte aber es macht spass die Welt so anzugucken...

Naja das ist aba voll unaktuell da steht immer noch das Hochhaus das abgerrissen wurde und jetzt daort ein Aldi gebaut wird...
Zum Glück ist das mit der echtzeit nicht der Fall, das ganze ist aber technisch möglich und es wäre auch vorstellbar, dass irgendwelche Orgs. oder Geheimdienste möglicherweise schon darüber verfügen.Ich denke aber das wir noch unbeobachtet in unserem Garten sonnenbaden können, ohne von einem Satelliten beobachtet werden. ;)

Schöne neue Welt
Die Daten die da verwendet werden sind Wochen oder Monate alt. Damit kann man niemanden ausspionieren.
Selbst die Spionagesatelliten diverser Organisationen brauchen immer eine Weile, bis sie in der richtigen Position sind, um jemanden auszuspionieren und auch dann bleiben sie nicht ewig in der richtigen Position (bzw. an den richtigen Positionen) - das Problem lässt sich zwar mittels Satellitennetzwerke lösen, doch die gesamte Erdoberfläche ist einfach zu groß, als dass das global immer und überall für jeden Punkt auf der Erde möglich wäre.
Mit Spionagesatelliten ist das Problemlos in Echtzeit möglich. Es versteht sich aber von selber, dass nur Geheimdienste diese Technik in Anspruch nehmen. Aber irgendwie schon interessant zu wissen, ob man gerade unter anderem auf diesem Bildausschnitt zu sehen ist. Bei Google Earth kann man nur bis ein paar hundert Meter heranzoomen. Mit speziellen Satelliten ist es auch möglich, Nummernschilder zu erkennen.

Es wird wohl auch in Zukunft nicht möglich sein, dass jede Person auf der Erde in Echtzeit diese Satelliten nutzen kann - denn sonst würde 100.000 Leute gleichzeitig auf das Teil per PC zugreifen und steuern wollen :D Geht ja schlecht...

Ich will auch so ein Ding :D
Schwachsinn, Flomo - Satelliten können sehr wohl über einem speziellen Punkt bleiben (geostellear oder so, lernt man in der 11.Klasse, aber da hab ich niccht wirklich zugehört).

Und man kann mit neumodischen Satelliten die Schalgzeilen einer am Boden liegenden Zeitung lesen - stand neulich mal in der ZEIT.

Knapp 30 min war glaube ich damals die Zeit, die man brauchte um mit einem Fernsehsatelliten Bilder der berühmte "Area 51" zu schiessen.

In Auftrag der Russen, glaube ich. Die Bilder wurden ebenso schnell auch aus dem Verkehr gezogen. Smiley

Die Area 51?

Gehst auf Las Vegas und dann nördlich, in der Mitte des Hügels da...
Ein WEIT abgegrenztes US Airforce Testgelände. (bezweifle das es bei google earth drin ist, da fehlt so einiges)
Area 51 ist drin! Da gibts sogar extra ein plugin für, damit man den Ausschnitt besonders hochauflösend sehen kann.

PS: Einige Aufnahmen bei Google Earth sind schon mehr als 10 Jahre alt.
über spezielle koordinaten usw.könnt ihr natürlich auch nier reinstellen.

z.b.pointer 54grad 49'45.60 N 120grad 47'45.88 E ist eine fläche mit magma.man siehts gut aus ca250 mi.

diese grauen stellen, die man in aus der *ferne* sieht, sind stellen, wo man ziemlich genau ranzoomen kann
..gibts das auch auf deutsch?
Wenn ich die .exe lade, steuere ich damit einen Satelliten direkt über meine Wohnung und oute mich?

Also das mich Spionagesatteliten der verschiedensten Länder praktisch (überspitzt gesagt) beim wichsen im Wald beobachten können und dabei sehen können wie groß meine Pupillen werden, wusste ich ja schon länger...
..aber das die Bilder nun für jedermann zugänglich sind (wenn auch nur in schwächerer zoomstufe) ist mir neu..!
So neu ist das nicht. Bereits 1997 brachte Topware "D-Sat 2.0" heraus, einen Satellitenatlas auf 14 CDs.

Bei mir ist die Grafik sehr schlecht. Obwohl ich eine G 5200 habe.
A)Die Geforce 5200 ist Mist...
B)Welche Verbindung nutzt du?
C)Hat man eigentlich nirgendwo ne super Auflösung.
Die Grafikqualität der Bilder steht nicht im Zusammanhang mit der Grafikkarte.
Ballungsräume sind Hochauflösend, Land eben nicht.
Das sind überwiegend gute Aufnahmen aus den USA, nur wenige aus Europa.

Und ich finde Google einfach geil. Alles. Mail, Talk, personalisierte Homepage, Toolbar, Earth, picasa, einfach geil.

Und keine Nation brauch 'n Sateliten zum ausspionieren. Das macht alles unsere Telekommunikationsbranche und der Verbraucherschutz.

Sowas wie google earht gab es schon früher von der NASA allerding kann man dort nicht so genau ranzoomen !!!
Auserdem stand in der CT das google jetzt manche Bilder mit Bildbearbeitungsprogrammen verfällscht z.B. Das Weise Haus in Amerika dort haben sie jetzt das Dach schwarz gemacht und auf dem Tennisplatzt Bäume gepflantzt !
Aber so an sich ist das schon richtig gut !!!
Aber mit der Heutigen Technik sin Kinderleicht echtzeitsateliten aufnahmen möglich!!!
Also wenn sie wollen kann die NASA z.B. dich den ganzen tag beobachten und biss auf de Boden zoomen sie können jetzt auch mit spezieller technik die Wolken wegfiltern!!!
Also wenn ihr nicht gesehen werden wollt nie nach oben schaun am besten immer einen Hut aufsetzten und nur noch im Notfall das Haus verlassen!!!
Auswandern den Namen ändern neues Leben anfangen und abtauchen und dann in 20 Jahren wieder unter die Menschen gehen in der Hoffnung das alles vorbei ist !!!

Hltet mal das Scrollrad auf der maus gedrückt und zieht sie nach unten so kann man die Kamera Schwenken und sozusage da lang laufen !!!

Wo nichts ist, kann man überhaupt nicht zoomen. Ich finde das der Nasa besser.
Von amerikanischen Städten hat auch die NASA genaue Bilder (wenn auch nicht ganz so genau, wie die in Google Earth). Und seit dem vorletzten Bilderupdate kann man auch das Dach von Weißen Haus und das Kongressgebäude in Washington sehen.

Wer einen guten Artikel über Suchmaschinen lesen will (vor Allem vom gesellschaftlich Aspekt her) sollte sich die aktuelle "Zeit" kaufen.

Geostationäre Satelliten sind ja so praktisch, wenn sie der Spionage dienen sollen...
Schön, aber, dass du mir vorwirfst, ich hätte behauptet, Satelliten könnten nicht über einem bestimmten Fleckchen Erde verweilen, obwohl ich nichts derartiges gesagt habe :) Keine Sorgen, ich weiß das aus vielerlei Quellen und wenn du möchtest, kann ich dir auch etwas Nachhilfe geben und dir zeigen, wie man die exakte Höhe berechnen kann :P

"Geostellear" ist zudem auch ein hübscher Neologismus. Besonders "stellear" (wenn überhaupt "stellar"). Ein bischen der antiken Sprachen sollte man eigentlich schon aufgeschnappt haben, um zu erkennen, dass etwas wie "stern-irdisch" irgendwie keinen Sinn machen würde.

Sie ist in Google Earth auch unter Sightseeing aufgeführt. Hier findet Ihr viele weitere interessante Sachen.
Bei mir ist's nicht im Sightseeing Ordner. Vielleicht erst bei neueren Versionen als meiner dabei?
Also soweit ich weiß war es von Anfang an dabei.
Ein Mysterium... hab nie was gelöscht *nochmal nachschau* und dabei ist's nicht. Die Wahrheit ist irgendwo da draußen oder auch nicht. Irgendwie auch uninteressant ^^

1. LICENSE GRANT

This Software is for non-commercial use only and your rights in the Software
are strictly limited to home, personal or recreational use only by you and not
for the benefit of third parties.

Subject to the terms of this Agreement, Google grants you a non-exclusive,
non-transferable license to use the Software distributed with this Agreement
during the term of this Agreement on a single designated computer. You may
make one copy of the Software in machine-readable form for backup purposes
only. The backup copy must include all copyright information contained on the
original. Such license shall be annual or monthly and is conditioned upon the
receipt by Google or its authorized reseller of full payment, if any, for the
Software but shall be terminable as provided herein. Your rights in the
Software are limited to those expressly granted in this Section 1. Your rights
in the Software do not cover any broadcast or media use without execution of a
separate agreement with Google allowing you to do so. All documentation and
all releases, corrections, updates and enhancements provided hereunder shall
be considered part of the "Software". The geographical information made
available for display using the Software is provided under a nonexclusive,
non-transferable license for use only by you. You may not use the Software or
the geographical information made available for display using the Software, or
any prints or screen outputs generated with the Software in any commercial or
business environment or for any commercial or business purposes for yourself
or any third parties.

THE SOFTWARE IS NOT INTENDED FOR USE IN THE OPERATION OF
NUCLEAR FACILITIES, AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION OR COMMUNICATION
SYSTEMS, OR AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL MACHINES OR ANY OTHER
SUCH HAZARDOUS ACTIVITIES IN WHICH CASE THE FAILURE OF
THE SOFTWARE COULD LEAD TO DEATH, PERSONAL INJURY, OR
SEVERE PHYSICAL OR ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE.

Your rights under this license will terminate automatically without notice
from Google if you fail to comply with any term(s) of this license.

2. LICENSE RESTRICTIONS

You shall not copy, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, translate,
modify or make derivative works of the Software, geographical information,
screen outputs or prints in whole or in part. Further, you shall not rent,
disclose, publish, sell, assign, lease, rent, sublicense, market, or transfer
the Software, geographical information, prints or screen outputs or any part
thereof or use it in any manner not expressly authorized by this Agreement.
Any attempt to transfer any of the rights, duties or obligations hereunder
except as expressly provided for in this Agreement is void. The Software
contains confidential and trade secret information of Google, and you shall at
all times take reasonable steps to protect the confidentiality of such
information.

3. PROPRIETARY RIGHTS

(a) You are only licensing rights to use the Software and the geographical
information available to be viewed using the Software. The Software, in whole
and in part and all copies thereof, are and will remain the sole and exclusive
property of Google. Further, you do not receive any, and Google and/or its
licensors (if any) retain all, ownership rights in the geographic information
displayed using the Software. The geographic information is copyrighted and
may not be copied, even if modified or merged with other data or software.
Your use and access of the geographical information may be subject to further
license requirements or obligations.

(b) You will not delete or in any manner alter the copyright, trademark,
or other proprietary rights notices of Google and its licensors, if any,
appearing on or in the Software, screen outputs and prints generated with
the Software as delivered to you. You will reproduce such notices on all
copies you make of the Software.

4. LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

(a) Limited Warranty. Google warrants for the period of ten (10) days from
the date of delivery of the Software to you that the medium on which the
Software is furnished (if applicable) will be free from defects in materials
and workmanship under normal use. Google will, at its option, replace or
refund the purchase price of faulty medium at no charge to you, provided you
return the faulty medium to Google. Google will have no responsibility to
replace or refund the purchase price of any medium damaged by accident,
abuse or misapplication.

(b) Virus Warranty. Google warrants that all Software supplied under this
Agreement will be supplied free of viruses or other similar intentionally
disabling code.

(c) Third Party References and Material. References made either in the
Software or in the geographical data displayed using the Software may include
reference to products, services, trademarks or hyperlinks of third parties. No
such reference(s) shall constitute or imply an endorsement or recommendation
by Google. In addition, as with any map, you should exercise caution when
using information displayed using the Software. The geographical information
displayed using the Software is to be used only as an aid in personal or
recreational planning. Google makes no guarantees concerning the accuracy,
currency, or quality of the content displayed using the Software.

(d) THE ABOVE WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, AND GOOGLE
EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS,
INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF
NONINFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, AND FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE
GIVEN BY GOOGLE, ITS EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR AGENTS
SHALL INCREASE THE SCOPE OF THE ABOVE WARRANTIES OR CREATE
ANY NEW WARRANTIES.

Some States do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. In that event,
any implied warranties are limited in duration to ninety (90) days from the
date of delivery of the Software.

(e) Limitation of Liability. IN NO EVENT SHALL GOOGLE OR ITS
EMPLOYEES, DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR AGENTS BE LIABLE TO YOU OR
ANY OTHER PARTY FOR INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM THIS
AGREEMENT, THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE, WHETHER RESULTING FROM
TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), BREACH OF CONTRACT, PRODUCT
LIABILITY, OR OTHER FORM OF ACTION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE
POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE AND NOTWITHSTANDING THE FAILURE OF
ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF ANY REMEDY. GOOGLE'S AND ITS EMPLOYEES',
DISTRIBUTORS', DEALERS' AND AGENTS' AGGREGATE TOTAL LIABILITY
UNDER THIS AGREEMENT WILL BE LIMITED TO THE LICENSE FEE PAID TO
GOOGLE OR ITS AUTHORIZED RESELLER BY YOU. You expressly assume all
responsibility for any damages, lost data, lost profits and other
consequential damages that may result in any way out of this Agreement,
including without limitation, use of the Software. You expressly agree
that the license fee has been negotiated and agreed to by Google based
in part upon the foregoing limitation of liability.

5. GOVERNMENT RIGHTS

The Software is "commercial computer software", and is provided with
restricted rights. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the United States
government is subject to restrictions as set forth in this Agreement and
as provided in DFARS 227.7202-1(a) and 227.7202-3(a) (1995), DFARS
252.227-7013(c)(1)(ii) (OCT 1988), FAR 12.212(a)(1995), FAR 52.227-19,
or FAR 52.227-14(ALT III), as applicable.

6. COMPLIANCE WITH LAW

You acknowledge and agree that the Software, geographical information, and any
other technical data provided hereunder are subject to restrictions and
controls imposed by the United States government. You agree and certify that
neither the Software, geographical information nor any technical data provided
hereunder is being or will be acquired, shipped, transferred or re-exported,
directly or indirectly, into any country prohibited by the United States
government or will be used for any purpose prohibited by the same. You further
agree to comply with all laws and regulations of all jurisdictions in your use
of the Software and geographical information.

7. GENERAL

(a) Choice of Law. This Agreement will be governed by and construed in
accordance with the laws of the State of California applicable to agreements
entered into and to be performed entirely within California between California
residents, and specifically excluding the provisions of the United Nations
Convention on the International Sale of Goods.

(b) Assignment. This Agreement will bind and inure to the benefit of each
party's successors and assigns, provided that you may not assign this
Agreement, in whole or in part, without Google's prior written consent.

(c) Severability. If any provision of this Agreement is found illegal or
unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and if
not possible, severed, and the legality and enforceability of the other
provisions of this Agreement will not be affected.

(d) Survival of Obligations. The provisions of Sections 3 (Proprietary
Rights), 5(e) (Limitation of Liability), 5 (Government Rights), and
7 (General) will survive termination of this Agreement.

(e) Entire Agreement. This license constitutes the entire agreement between
you and Google with respect to the use of the Software.

Compatibility
-------------

- "Google Earth" is our free product and shares an installer with
"Google Earth Plus". You can upgrade your Google Earth to Plus
via the Help menu.

- "Google Earth Plus" replaces "Keyhole 2 LT" and "Keyhole 2 NV". It
will ask to uninstall these for you, but it will remember your login
information. This version is for non-commercial use only

- "Google Earth Pro" replaces "Keyhole 2 PRO", for commercial use

- "Google Earth EC" replaces "Keyhole 2 EC", the enterprise client

- Many new graphics-intensive features have been added, so graphics card
compatibility is an issue. Be sure to update your graphics driver.

- This version supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

- It does run on Windows Server 2003 and XP-x64.

- It does not run on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, or Windows ME.

- There are known issues with "Windows XP for tablet PCs" and
Windows XP Media Center.

- It has also been tested successfully with Windows XP Service Pack 2
(SP2) with this exception:

* If you install Windows XP SP2, it may DOWNgrade your driver to
a version earlier than is found on the manufacturer's website. Some
people report that such nVidia, Intel, and ATI drivers do not work
with Google Earth. To avoid this problem, please do the following _after_
installing XP SP2: Go to the manufacturer's website, download, and
install the latest driver. Note: Refer to the driver *version number*
-- not the date -- to determine how up-to-date your driver is.

- A minimum screen size of 1024x768 pixels is required. Also,
"True Color (32-bit)" resolution and a sufficient graphics card are
required for clamped filled polygons; otherwise, they will be displayed
as outlines only.

- The default OpenGL graphics rendering engine is the usually the best
from both a performance and visual quality perspective.

- The DirectX version of Google Earth can be selected in the Preferences
panel. If there is a problem at startup, you can also change it from
the Start Menu item. Use it on older machines and laptop computers that
have trouble with the default OpenGL version.

- The DirectX version of Google Earth requires DirectX 8.1 or newer.

- The ATI Omega drivers are not supported. If used, they may produce frequent
crashes in the client. Use only manufacturer recommended drivers.

- If you have a Quadro, FireGL, or other workstation card that has problems
with printing, movie making, or clamped filled polygons (flashing or
replicated on the screen), change one of the options in the advanced area
of your Display Properties and then restart the Google Earth client.
(eg: Control Panels->Display->settings->Advanced->3D for ATI)

a) For ATI FireGL, find the application configuration section
tab, and choose "3dsmax." ATI will soon be adding a "Keyhole"
mode, so choose that if it is available.

b) For Quadro, select the "use unified back/depth buffer" check box.

- If the client crashes, then it will create a 'minidump' file that can
help debug and fix the problem. It does not contain any personal
information. If the option is selected in the installer, this is
automatically sent to Google. Regardless of whether you send it to Google
a copy is made on your machine. The file names starts with "Google_Earth"
and contains the version number/type, the date/time and has a ".dmp"
extension. It is stored in your temporary directory - to see the most
recent crash sorted by name and pick the minidump closest to a file
starting with the letter H, or sort by 'Date Modified'.

- If you have having trouble connecting to Google Earth servers and you
your machine has a software firewall like:

McAfee Personal Firewall Plus (also in McAfee Internet Security Suite)
ZoneAlarm
Norton Personal Firewall

you may have inadvertently blocked Google Earth's access to the internet.
Microsoft Windows XP service pack 2 does not cause this problem. A common
symptom is GoogleEarth reporting lack of access and that it will instead
use the local cache. Please verify that GoogleEarth.exe is not explicitly
blocked and that access to "port 80" is available for non-browser
applications. You can typically find these settings by opening your
anti-virus software preferences.

McAfee Personal Firewall Plus (2005 ver 7.0)
1) Open Google Earth and try logging in
2) Open McAfee Personal Firewall Plus
Start -> All Programs -> McAfee -> McAfee Personal Firewall Plus
3) Click on "Internet Applications" in the left column
4) Scroll down and select the "Google Earth" entry
5) In the "Permissions" column it needs to say "Allow Full Access"
6) If it does not say that, press the button on the bottom right
that says "Allow Full Access", verify it's changed using last step

Zone Labs ZoneAlarm
1) Open Google Earth and try logging in
2) Open ZoneAlarm
Start -> All Programs -> Zone Labs -> Zone Labs Security
3) Click on the "Programs" tab on the right of the window
4) From the list that's displayed, if Google Earth is not shown, click
the "Add" button on the bottom-right of the window. Navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Google\Google Earth\GoogleEarth.exe.
5) Select "Google Earth" from the list
6) In the "Access" column for Google Earth, look purple question
marks and red X's for the "Trusted" and "Internet" sub-columns. Left
click and change them all to the green checkmark "Allow"

Norton Personal Firewall (2002 ver 4.0)
1) Open Google Earth and try logging in
2) Open Norton Personal Firewall
Start -> All Programs -> Norton Personal Firewall
-> Norton Personal Firewall
3) On the left, click on the button "Personal Firewall"
4) From the new options, press the button "Internet Access Control"
5) From the new screen, if Google Earth is not in the list, press the
"Add" button that is near the bottom of the window. Navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Google\Google Earth\GoogleEarth.exe
(Press ok if it says "You are attempting to add an application
that already has rules.")
6) Click "Permit this application access to the Internet" and then OK

- Proxies may also block the use of Google Earth. Make sure your proxy permits
access on port 80 to kh.google.com, geo.keyhole.com and auth.keyhole.com.


New Features
------------

- a faster, better disk cache mechanism has been added. Upgrading from
Keyhole 2 or pre-3.0.0464, you will lose your existing disk cache.
This is unavoidable, but should not happen again for a couple of years.
NOTE: Your myplaces.kml file will NOT be lost.

- Geocoder, Local Search, and Driving Directions are now integrated
with Google's search engine. The last 10 search entries are remembered.

- 3D buildings are currently available in 38 US cities, try San Francisco.

- You can "drive to" and "drive from" any placemark, icon, or MyPlaces
entry using the right-click context menu.

- Search Results and MyPlaces now have a "snippet view," showing the first
two lines of the description.

- Streaming performance (updating data via the network) should be
greatly improved. Server infrastructure at Google helps, but the software
has also changed to take advantage of it.

- A new filetype, KMZ, is available. KMZ files are KML files that have been
zipped up along with their related files, such as image overlays. This means
that you can share image overlays and custom icons without having to publish
the files on an external web server or mail them as an attachment with the KML.

- More flexible tour mode: touring a line (e.g., the route
from driving directions) or touring a folder is now possible.
Folder tours allow items to be checkboxed visible, but not be
included in the tour path by limiting tour points to only
one folder (checked or not).

- The description now appears in an on-screen balloon instead of in the side
window.

- Web page results from search and URLs embedded in description can now be
viewed in an embedded web browser (or, via options/preferences,
in the your default external browser)

- Rolling over an icon highlights the label.

- Double-click in the 3D view to point-n-zoom: The old single-click
point-n-zoom mode has been moved to the options/preferences panel,
but double-click on the earth and you will zoom in to that point.

- The transparency slider now appears only when an image overlay is
selected or when a folder of polygons is selected.

- Improved rendering performance.

- A new Latitude/Longitude grid is available.

- A new overview-view is available from the View menu. Use
Tools->Options->Navigation to adjust its location/zoom.

- The installer now has option in to specify the install directory,
and the location for the dbcache.dat file and myplaces.kml.

- The "High Res Places" and "World Places" menus have been removed
and a small sight-seeing list has moved to the default_myplaces.kml
file. As you will see, tracking the high-resolution places in
new Google Earth data has gone beyond the list stage.

- New mouse controls for tilt and rotate. These controls are accessed
by pressing down on the scroll wheel (or middle mouse button). To tilt
the camera, hold the scroll wheel down while moving the mouse up and down.
To rotate the camera, hold the scroll wheel down while moving the mouse
left and right. To rotate without tilting (e.g. to do a 360 degree
rotation), hold the shift key and scroll wheel down while moving the
mouse in a circular motion around the center of the screen.

- a new/old G-force mode has been added to navigation.
Drag using the right mouse button to control acceleration/deceleration.
Drag using the left mouse button to control pitch and yaw.
Switch modes using Tools/Options/Control or use Ctrl-G (GForce mode) and
ctrl-T (regular trackball mode).

- Google Earth can now be installed without administrative privileges (Plus only).

- GPS data can now be viewed in Google Earth, either directly input from
Garmin/Magellan devices (including Garmin USB interface), or by using
.gpx or .loc file loading. (Plus/Pro/EC only)

- Draw Path and Draw Polygon are now available, including extruded
and at-altitude items. (Plus/Pro/EC only)

- you can now select lines and polygons. Use ctrl+leftclick to
select/get-balloon-description. Use ctrl+rightclick to get
the context menu (which will allow editing).

- Style Templates can now be applied to "Import..." data and existing KML
folders.

- You can perform batch geocoding of street addresses using the Import menu item
to import a .csv (comma-separated values) file (Plus/Pro/EC only)

- Significant speed improvements in High-resolution Printing and Movie
Making.

- Icons and lines can now be displayed at altitude.
Icons at altitude and have a "stem" connecting them to the ground.

- GIFs (non-animated) can be used as overlays and icons.

Fixes and Known Issues
----------------------
Fixes from 2.2:

- In rare cases, Keyhole 2 would crash on exit while saving MyPlaces
and lose either the session data or the whole file. Many changes
have been made to better protect against this situation, including
a more reliable backup mechanism.

- Entries in MyPlaces will no longer occasionally be re-ordered during a
exit/restart.

- Road labels are now drawn in higher quantity at low altitude.

- Shared display styles from an imported folder can now
be disabled by moving their contents into new folders
and applying a new shared display style.

- Labels in prints are no longer truncated.

- Overlay images now retain their aspect ratio when imported.

- Google Earth now works with Windows Server 2003

- Multiple image overlays loaded simultaneously no longer sporadically
fail to load.

- Network link refresh will no longer sporadically fail and require
program restart.


Known issues (August):

- Google Earth does not run on Windows 98/ME

- Automatic Keyboard Popup is not supported on the Tablet PC using Google Earth.
The user must manualy activate the onscreen keyboard with these devices.

- Google Earth may not run well on Media Center PCs

- Google Earth does not install/run well on restricted user accounts
that have Unicode (eg: Kanji) names

- some people with GPS devices using USB are having trouble importing
data. COM->USB should work, but it depends on the quality of the
adaptor. IOgear's GUC232A does _not_ work, unfortunately. SiiG and
Magellan adapters seem to work well.

- driving-directions/measure/lines do not draw with thickness in DX

- A maximized window that is then full-screened will not return
to maximized when full-screen is exited.

- drag-n-drop inside the Places window doesn't scroll and doesn't give
enough visual feedback. You can use cut-paste to move items long distances
in the scroll.

- if you enable a folder full of overlays, you may require more resources
(video memory and main memory) than your system is capable of. Killing the
application may be your only exit.

- interlaced PNG image files are not supported as overlays

- kmz files emailed via Gmail sometimes may get a .kml appended to them.
This will be fixed in the Gmail servers soon.


GPSBabel - a GPL executable
---------------------------

Some versions of Google Earth include the executable binary of
Robert Lipe's GPSBabel program. That project bas been developed
under the GNU Public License and any copies of it can only be
distributed iff they include a copy of the license.

The GPL license can be found in:

(or similar directory if you custom installed the application)

GPSBabel source code can be found at http://www.gpsbabel.org/.

It's a great program for GPS device input and file translations.


Graphics Card/Driver Compatibility Notes
----------------------------------------

Typically, OpenGL has a better visual appearance due to standardized access
to features. If you can, use OpenGL. Typically, DirectX is more reliable
on older graphics cards and may be your only choice in some circumstances.
The ATI Omega drives are not supported.

Desktop machines can always have their drivers updated from the chip
provider's website (nVidia, ATI, Intel, S3...), but laptop machines are at the
mercy of the manufacturer of the laptop (Dell, Toshiba, HP, ...) and how often
they choose to adopt/publish updates for their graphics drivers. Even big-name
manufacturers can be up to 1 year behind the updates from the chip provider.
If you notice this, complain to your manufacturer about it... hopefully they
will increase the speed of their updates.

ATI FireGL* cards
OpenGL - can have problems with movie/print/email-image when covered,
To work around this problem on ATI FireGL's OpenGL, go to the properties
panel of the Display, choose settings-->advanced-->select the tab named
"OpenGL", "graphics" or "configuration" and select the "Keyhole"
profile (which is available in the latest drivers).

DirectX - Even though DirectX doesn't have the printing problem, OpenGL is
recommended after the workaround above. Also DX may stop displaying the
earth when removing or adding an external monitor, simply restart to fix.

Der entsprechende_Wikipedia-Eintrag beschreibt die Lage recht ordentlich. Ja, der Mt. Everest sieht ziemlich beeindruckend aus.

Also klar wir sind nicht mehr unbeobachtet. Wir werden bereitz von Sateliten beobachtet. Nur sind wir so viele Menschen das der Satelit es schwer haben wird eine einzelne Person herauszufiltern. Und wer interessiert sich für einen ungescholtenen Bürger wie Julian Walter <- mich?
