I) What this guide is about-
This guide is about competitive strategies that are
used by gamefaqs board members as well as some of the top
players in the Goldeneye 007 (Wii) community. If you use
these strategies at the appropriate moments you should be
able to increase your kill count and perform better against
the better players.

II) How to use this guide-
Each section is labeled near the top of the document.
You can use Control+F to jump to what you are looking for in
the guide. If you see an abbreviation and you are unsure
what it stands for just search for it using Control+F and
you should be able to find its meaning somewhere in here.

James Bond:
Bond has the Anova DP3 + ACOG as well as the P99 with Silencer.
He has 3 proximity mines and is available on all maps. His
gadgets include Lightfoot, Snap Shot, Bio Booster and Heavy
Hitter although these gadgets seem to be stronger than normal.
Bond is affiliated with MI6.

Alec Trevelyn:
Alec is affiliated with Janus and is available on Jungle, Memorial,
Sewer and Station. He has the Vargen FH-7 with a Laser and the
Hawksman M5A. He also has 3 RTMs and his gadgets are Lightfoot,

Gadget Stats-

Glitches-
Industrial Wall Glitch:

Station Wall Glitch:

Floor Glitch:

Grenadier (Noob tube) Disappearing Ammo:
Sometimes if you press the fire button as soon as the numbers
look like the gun has reloaded, it will shoot a blank and you
will have to reload again. To avoid this let the reload
animation complete entirely before firing.

ADS Reload Lock:
If you are ADSing and your gun runs out of ammo, the game will
auto-reload, but if this happens while you are ADSing then your
cursor will lock up and your turning and movement will also
temporarily be messed up. This will correct itself after a few
seconds and then movement and aiming will return to normal.

Exploits-
Infinite Ammo:
When you stand on top of a gun that is the same as the gun that
you are holding, you can fire infinitely. However, as soon as
you step away from the gun your ammo will remain full, but the
gun will disappear.

Default Loadouts-

V) Competitive Strategies-

This section lists each stage followed by each weapon type.
The maps and weapons are listed in alphabetical order.

Archives-

Assault Rifles:
Ivana is the best weapon of the ARs and it also works well
on this stage. The Anova is also good, but the AK and
Kallos should be avoided. Terralite can be decent to use.
Keep the distances between you and where opponents may be
greater than normal. This will help to avoid shotguns and
possibly allow you to live longer.

Explosives:
Silencers can be used, but they may not be as useful as
other gadgets here because this map is small in size and
it confrontations will happen often. A laser sight may be
more useful to maintain increase your hit marker diameter
as well as keep the power of the gun at its standard level
to get the kill faster. Explosives are very useful here.
Toss explosives often in high traffic areas and check radar
frequently to have more luck with making the grenades count.
It is good to toss grenades and mines from the basement to the
top floor. The walkway right above the basement with the
vaulted ceiling is a high traffic area. This is a good area
to throw explosives right when a team based game starts. If
you use proximity mines, you can hide them near the corners
of intersecting hallways to make them more covert. RTMs can
be used in a similar way if you are staying close to the
area of placement and keeping an eye on them so you know
when they can be detonated. If you are playing on BB mode
you can put a mine on the black box and then when you hear
the black box picked up announcement of the opposing team,
you can detonate the mine for a kill. You can use a similar
strategy for GE mode by placing a RTM on a console and then
when you see the console is being hacked you detonate the
mine for a kill. If you have a teammate who likes to melee
opponents often, then you can place a mine on them so when
they are near an opponent it may blow up and give you a point.

Pistols:
Kunara and Wolfe can be good on this map. Keep to about a
mid-range distance from opponents that use shotguns and get
close to everyone else to get kills easier. Stick to cover
and take the inside of turns to surprise opponents. If you
have the Golden Gun you may consider finding a hallway or
area with one or two entrances to know where opponents will be
coming from more often. Keep in mind that everyone knows where
you are located when you have the Golden Gun and most people
will want to take that Golden Gun from you. If you are playing
competitively you will want to avoid using the Torka, Hawksman
and P99.

Shotguns:
The Drumhead seems to work best here as it is accurate and
usually kills in one shot. Some of the elite players prefer
to use the PT-9 over the Drumhead for getting kills faster,
but both are probably pretty good to use. Stick to the inside
of turns to shorten the distance between you and any opponents
coming around the corner. Shotguns are close range guns so
you want to make sure there is less distance between you and
your potential kills.

Snipers:
Don't use snipers on this stage.

Sub-Machine Guns:
Strata is the best choice because it gets kills the fastest of
all the SMGs. Vargen and Stauger can also be good because they
hold 40 or 50 bullets in a clip. It is better to have to reload
less on this stage because it is a small stage so it tends to have
constant action. That is what makes Vargen and Stauger useful.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
Console number 4 can be hacked from behind the nearby wall to
confuse opponents. You can farm and place RTMs on consoles to
help keep the opponents from hacking consoles. Console 3 is safer
to hack than most of the other consoles.

Heroes:
The hallway to the right of the MI6 spawn location is the best
place to spawn hero as well as patrol that hallway. It is the
safest place for the hero and allows you to shoot down a stair
case rather than up. It also only can allow enemies to attack
from two sides of you. If your teammates are backing you up
and protecting you then this will make it so that you are a
formidable opponent.

Black Box:
You will encounter a lot of proxies and Mastertons on this stage
in this mode. You may have to use Proxertons to fight back,
otherwise you can also farm to keep opponents at bay. The best
place to download from the box is right around where Console 3
normally is in Goldeneye mode.

Docks-

Assault Rifles:
Running and gunning is best on this map so that makes SMGs and
ARs the best weapons of choice. Keep your distance if there
are a few shotguns in the game.

Explosives:
Spam explosives in the buildings especially in the building with
the boat room. You can toss grenades up and over walls inside
the building with the boat room. If you go out into the back
alley you can throw explosives through the back room of the boat
room. You can also throw grenades up above the boat room and
watch them drop in from above to get you kills. This is useful
for clearing out the boat room of opponents when they are camping
it.

Pistols:
Hero pistols, Kunara and Wolfe are likely to be the only useful
pistols on this stage. You can farm using the Golden Gun as
bait fairly easy on this level as well.

Shotguns:
Shotguns work well in the building with the boat room. Shotguns
are not going to work as well outside in the court yards or in
the back alley.

Snipers:
Snipers are only useful on this stage if you are camping the boat
room or trying to cover your team as they assualt the boat room.
The covering position would be behind the boxes against the wall
looking through a crack near the MI6 spawn location.

Sub-Machine Guns:
Running and gunning is best on this map so that makes SMGs and
ARs the best weapons of choice. Keep your distance if there
are a few shotguns in the game.

Spawn Lock Locations:
You can spawn lock the opposing team in both courtyard areas.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
The console in the boat room is one of the safer consoles to hack.
You can farm to keep the opposing team at bay.

Heroes:
This mode tends to have people camping the boat room or the back
alley as hero. You can expect to find the heroes in those
locations most of the time. Sometimes the hero will camp the
barn, but this is not as often. Watch out for Bond's proxies all
over the boat room building.

Black Box:
This match is dedicated to...Proxertons. Like Archives, you will
see a lot of Mastertons and proxies. The box is best left in
the starting location. Don't move it to the outdoor areas unless
you want to risk getting killed and then having a hard time
recovering the box.

Industrial-

Assault Rifles:
Assault rifles are good for the long hallways on this stage. They
can be used just about everywhere in the map and still be effective
though. Aim for headshots and ADS in the hallways. That is about
all you need to keep in mind when using the ARs.

Explosives:
Grenades and RTMs are good to throw up over the top of the map and
have them fall into other rooms. This is useful for getting
people who are wall glitching as hero. Proxies can be hid on the
inside of corners and catch people off guard turning the corner.

Pistols:
Golden Gun, Wolfe, Kunara and heroes pistols are the only pistols
useful here and even then they are usually not as useful as
snipers, ARs and SMGs due to the long hallways. If you have the
Golden Gun, try to find an area with only two entrances or
walkways to your location. This will funnel your opponents
into a steady stream that you can hopefully handle.

Shotguns:
Stick to the areas with shorter halls and around the stairs that
are located in the center of the map. Your shotguns will be more
effective in these areas. Avoid the areas with long hallways.

Snipers:
If you plan to use sniper, then the best places to be are at the
end of a long hallway so you can have plenty of distance between
you and your opponents coming in from the other end of the hallway.
Another good location to camp is located in the basement area
where the large generator looking things are located. You can
go down to the lower floor and then find a sniping location where
you can aim at the entrance to the highest floor from a safe
distance away.

Sub-Machine Guns:
I find the ARs to be a bit more useful on this stage than SMGs.
This is due to the long hallways, but SMGs are still fairly
effective. Hip-fire around the corners and near the stairs,
but ADS in the hallways when you can.

Spawn Lock Locations:
You can spawn lock at Ourumov's Spawn location.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
You can hide behind a barrel near console 4 and surprise people
that come your way. Console 5 tends to be safer to hack than
most of the other consoles as well.

Heroes:
Heroes will usually camp outside on the upper walkway. Another
common area to see heroes is at the end of the long hallway
upstairs.

Black Box:

Memorial-

Assault Rifles:
ARs are very useful in this stage. They have long range and if
you are aiming for head shots then they will kill fast almost like
a sniper.

Explosives:
Proxies can be hidden well since this map is dark, but all mines
and grenades can be thrown to rain from the sky since this map is
wide open.

Pistols:
Pistols are kind of like shotguns where the greater the distance
that the target is from you, the harder it is to get kills.

Shotguns:
Shotguns are not very useful on this map, unless you plan on camping
the interior structures most of the game. Other longer range weapons
will be more efficient here.

Snipers:
Snipers are really useful on this map because it is large and open.
Thermal scope attachment on the sniper will also be because this
stage is dark. Although, silencers are generally good too to use.

Sub-Machine Guns:
These work well similar to ARs, although ARs seem to have a bit more
range. Remember to aim for head shots, stay away from wide open
areas and use cover and you should do well.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
Go for the consoles inside the buildings more than the consoles
outside in the open areas. You will have a safer time trying to
hack the console that way.

Heroes:
Heroes will generally camp the buildings to avoid snipers and wait
for opponents to rush them. Try to flank if possible and avoid
the front entrance.

Black Box:

Nightclub-

Assault Rifles:
Assault rifles work really well in the green and pink areas of
the map. They are also useful in the long hallways for getting
those long range kills.

Explosives:
Use explosives as much as possible near the green area. It can be
good to use explosives near the pink area sometimes too. Basically,
these are the high traffic areas of the map that have a higher
probability to get you doubles, triples and quads. Everyone likes
quads.

Pistols:
Pistols are better used in the pink and green areas because they
have shorter range than other weapons.

Shotguns:
Stick to the areas with short hallways and avoid the longer hallways.
In general long hallways should be avoided with all types of weapons,
but especially with shotguns.

Snipers:
One of the dining tables in the bottom floor in the center area of
the map is good for camping with sniper. Another area that can be
good for a sniper is up on the top floor behind a thin wooden plank
near the center of the map.

Sub-Machine Guns:
Use these just about anywhere. Their strategy is similar to the AR
strategy.

Spawn Lock Locations:
MI6 Spawn and Zukovsky Spawn points are locations that you can spawn
lock opponents at.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
The console in the green area is good to hack, but you may be left
open to random grenades and mines that could be thrown from downstairs.
Hack the console and then get out of there.

Heroes:
Camp the green or pink areas as hero. This is especially effective
as Bond. Avoid traveling around the map as hero when possible. Make
sure to utilize Bond's proxies and Zukovsky's grenades when hero.
They can get you easy kills.

Black Box:
Take the black box to the pink area if possible. This is the best
area to download from the box.

Outpost-

Assault Rifles:
These are useful for spawn locking on this stage. The long range,
lots of ammo and high rate of fire are why these are useful.

Explosives:
These are most useful near the cabins located by Ourumov's starting
spawn location. Sometimes you can toss a RTM across the map and
get someone with it though.

Pistols:
If you use a pistol make sure to stick to the inside of the cabins
near Ourumov's starting spawn location.

Shotguns:
These are rarely used competitively on this map and are in general
bad for this map. A different weapon is recommended, but if you do
use a shotgun stick to the inside of the cabins that are near
Ourumov's starting spawn location.

Snipers:
Snipers are great on this level. Don't ever go in the lookout towers.
Climbing the ladder makes you an easy target and then you are a
sitting duck in the tower. The platform overlooking the stage is much
better of a view point and is better for sniping. If you do climb into
one of the towers you can sprint off the ledge to avoid climbing down
the ladder. On the ground at MI6 spawn is a good location to snipe from
as long as you continually strafe back and forth while sniping. Also,
make sure to stand behind the crates while doing this. Sniping up on
the roof of the tallest building near Ourumov's spawn is good. When up
there pay attention to the sounds of footsteps on the stairs so no one
catches you by surprise.

Sub-Machine Guns:
The SMGs are useful on this stage for spawn locking because they have
a high rate of fire and a large ammo supply.

Spawn Lock Locations:
Anywhere near and around the three parallel cabins is bad. Avoid that
area, but you can spawn lock enemies in that area. There is a spawn
lock location right near MI6 Spawn as well as in the corner with the
stairs leading up to the prime sniping platform.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
Avoid the console that is out in the open, but go for the others. The
console located in the building near Ourumov's starting spawn location
is a safer console to hack. You can use RTMs to get people often that
are hacking. A SMG or AR is probably your best weapon of choice for
this mode on this stage.

Heroes:
Spawn hero and stick to the cabins. Join the spawn lock if you can,
otherwise stay inside the buildings near the center of the stage. An
example video is below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP5Gkk4dQ7A

Black Box:
Stand on the outside a safe distance away from the cabin in the center
of the stage and you can pick people off as they go for the box.

Sewer-

Assault Rifles:
Ivana, Anova and Terralite work well on this stage because they are black
and this stage is dark.

Explosives:
Spam explosives everywhere. This stage is smaller than most of the other
stages and people are often running around in the center of the map so
that is a good place to toss your explosive often.

Pistols:
Kunara is darker than Wolfe so it will be more stealthy on this stage.

Shotguns:
Drumhead is strong and black. Darker weapons are good for blending in
to the environment.

Snipers:
If you choose to use a sniper, make sure it is a black sniper.

Sub-Machine Guns:
Strata is strong, but Vargen and Sigmus 9 are black so they give you
more cover in the darkness. SMGs are good in general for this stage.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
It is better to stick to the corridors than trying to hack the console
in the center of the map.

Heroes:
Stay in the corridors as hero and you can limit your opponents to
facing you head on more often than not. This should up your chances
for survival.

Black Box:
Keep your distance from the box and you can pick off other players that
try to rush the box or download from it.

Station-

Assault Rifles:
The underground tunnels are good locations to be with ARs, but you can
also run around most of the map with little fear. You may have to
take out some snipers from time to time though.

Explosives:
Use them on people sniping. You can toss RTMs across the map and take
out snipers.

Pistols:
I have found the Kunara to be fairly useful on this stage, but only
when it was used in combination with a sniper rifle. Here is an
example of what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svD-6B6lqE8

Shotguns:
Shotguns are most useful in the underground tunnels of the map and in
and around Janus spawn. Venturing out of those areas will make it
hard to kill with the shotgun.

Snipers:
Snipers are good on this map. You have a lot of options for sniping.
Every corner of the map is a prime sniping location and then there is
also the inside of the train that you can snipe from.

Sub-Machine Guns:
SMGs work well in most locations of the map so you can usually just run
and gun the entire game.

Mode Specific Strategies:
Goldeneye:
The consoles located inside buildings are the best consoles to try and
hack. They tend to have less fire from snipers and the surrounding
walls will give you more cover.

Heroes:
Janus starting spawn location and MI6 starting spawn location are the
two best areas to become hero and survive. Use those two areas to
your advantage and avoid a lot of sniper fire.

Black Box:
Keep your distance and pharm the opposing team.

VI) Advanced Techniques-
Strafing:
Do this as much as possible. Never stop moving because it makes
you a harder target to hit.

ADSing (Aim Down Sights):
This is a useful technique when your opponents are far away. It
will help to lock on your aiming reticule and allow you to be
more accurate with your shots. Avoid using this at close range
and instead hip-fire.

Pharming (Farming):
This is usually done on game modes like Goldeneye mode and Black
Box. It can be done on Golden Gun mode as well. In Golden Gun
mode you use the Golden Gun as bait and kill any opponents that
try to pick up the Golden Gun as you lie in wait for them to come
near it. Black Box mode operates in a similar way. You use the
Black Box as bait while you hide and wait for opponents to come
near it. Goldeneye mode pharming occurs when you avoid hacking
consoles and simply run around shooting any and all opponents,
especially those that are hacking consoles.

Hip-firing (Hip-fire):
Avoid ADS at close range and instead hip-fire. You can probably
get away with a quick tap of the ADS button to snap onto your
opponent, but then you should hip-fire if they are close. Hip-
firing also helps to break your opponent's ADS lock on you.

Strategies based on Sensitivity:
If your sensitivity is low, you should avoid getting too close
to opponents and avoid meleeing because your turn speed will be
low. If your sensitivity is high then you can probably get away
with rushing an opponent and going in for a melee.

Strategies based on Controller:
Gamecube controllers, classic controllers and any other dual
analog controller will have an easier time sniping than with
Wiimotes because the cursor remains steady. Wiimotes have a
better ADS than the dual analogs controllers because when you
ADS it will lock on and follow your opponents for an extra
second that the dual analog controllers do not do.

Flanking:
Charging your opponents head on is fun to do, but that may end
up in mutuals and more deaths for you. So, sometimes it is
better to circle around behind your opponent and come in from
the side to get the kill. This is especially good if a teammate
is already putting pressure on the opponent from their front side.

Tossing Explosives:
Toss grenades and RTMs at high access points on the map from time
to time to get kills. It may not always net you a kill, but
sometimes it is worth it. You can also check the radar on the
mini map to see if an opponent is near by and then toss an
explosive in that area. When using RTMs it is usually best to pop
out from a wall, throw the RTM, go back behind the wall and then
detonate the RTM.

Hiding Explosives:
Place those proxies in a place that will disguise them like on a
book shelf or on the inside of a corner. You can hide RTMs on
Goldeneye consoles in Goldeneye mode. Then, when you see that
someone is hacking a console that you left a RTM at, you can
detonate the RTM and get a kill.

Suiciding to Prevent Losing:
If the score is close and it is looking like a hopeless situation
that you just got yourself in, then you can cook a grenade or
jump off a high ledge to suicide and prevent the opponent from
winning by getting their last kill from you. This may potentially
buy you enough time to get the few more kills that you need. I
have used this strategy to win on Team Conflict when the teams
were at 39-39. I suicided which brought us down to 38, but then
we got two more kills to win 40-39. This strategy is situational
and it is rare that you have to rely on it, but it is good to know.

Using the environment to your advantage:
This is one of more useful things to keep in mind. If you see a
crate, fence, pole, wall, corner, etc. near you, then you should
hug it or put it in front of you and use circular movements around
it to stay alive longer. You can see me using my environment at
about 3:27 in the video at the following link.

Psuedo-Camping:
I call patrolling a small area psuedo camping because you aren't
really camping, but you are sticking to a smaller portion of the
map. This can be good to keep you from traveling in wide open
areas as much and risking getting sniped.

Split-Screen Local Play:
There is no reason to use the mini map for its radar. Just look
at your opponents screen to see where they are and then you can
go hunt them down. If you learn to shoot at your opponent while
looking at their screen you can see where they are shooting and
basically avoid every shot they fire by knowing exactly where to
not to be.

Camping:
This is usually bad to do, but if your opponent is rushing you a
lot, then this can be effective. It can sometimes be useful for
sniping, although a general rule that I use is shoot twice with
sniper and then move to a new location. People may start to pick
up on your location if you stay put for too long.

Shoot down stairs, not up:
If you are aiming down you have protection from the platform you
are standing on and it is faster to get to a headshot if you are
aiming down than it is to aim up a stairway. Some situations will
allow you or require you to shoot up a stair way, but it is usually
better to take the high ground.

Headshots:
Go for headshots as much as possible. They will help turn the game
in your favor if you can get them often.

Camouflage:
Notice the colors that your character is wearing. This is especially
useful on darker stages like Sewers. Stick to the shaded areas if
you are wearing mostly black. People sometimes have darker televisions
and will walk right past you because they couldn't see you.

Movement positioning:
This is based on your current loadout mostly, but it is generally
good to take the inside of turns if you have a shotgun because it
shortens the distance between you and your opponent. If you are using
an AR or SMG then you should probably take the outside of turns,
unless you know that your opponents favor taking the outside of turns,
then in that case you should take the inside of the turn because it
will help you to be pointed at them first.

Proper Spacing:
A long, long time ago in a building far, far away, Archives was under
attack. I was playing on Archives using the default Assault loadout
with Kallos. I saw my opponents using the box formation strategy running
up the narrow stairway near MI6 spawn. I quickly switched to the
grenadier attachment and fired it. It gave me a quad, but the moral of
the story is to maintain spacing between you and your teammates. If you
do this you will avoid getting trapped in doubles, triples and quads
from well placed explosives.

Angular Projection:
Grenades can be bounced off of walls so this can be useful knowledge. If
an opponent has just turned a corner you can lob a grenade off the wall
to travel around the corner. You can also use ceilings to drop grenades
on your opponents heads. This is great on Docks, Archives and Jungle.

Gun Jacking:
If you see a gun that is stronger than your current weapon, it is a good
idea to swap it out with your current weapon. This is called gun jacking
and it is a useful technique if you do not have the stronger better
weapons unlocked. I used this technique frequently as a low level. You
can also gun jack if you are low on ammo or are getting tired of your
current weapon. Some people even swap out their secondary as soon as they
can so they can have a backup gun that is strong.

VII) Tips from the GE Community-

"Now when hip firing if you have a high turning speed you can strafe and turn
faster than your opponent and shoot them from the side or from behind. You can
time it to where they are trying to turn and run fast enough to keep up with
you.
Keep eyes open for your teammates, try to work together, if you see your
teammate sniping try to help guard them if you want to, if they are trying to
stay hidden then move a little bit further away from them. On certain maps you
can have a good team going if a person snipes and others use SMG's or assault
rifles.
When you see mines laying around, for example a proxy mine and there is only
one person level 53 or above and the person is on your team don't shoot it,
take a look at your scoreboard in mid game if you can or if its by the level
53 or above player then it could possibly be his or her proxy mine. (if you
are playing heros and the other team has Bond then be cautious but check your
scoreboard) also don't give away teammates positions when they are sniping by
running up to them and firing at them or smacking them, that can be annoying
lol."

"Using Oddjob's hats effectively: don't play with wiimote, you can always have
a body shot with ccp, and all you need with a hat is a limb."

"Okay for Strafing: To help you with strafing its a lil jerk of your cursor
to the left or right. Remember NOT a big jerk a SMALL, but fast jerk.
Also fixing your settings up to quote " Wii Remote Turning, Look OFF".
That will also help you with Hip-Fire. Why? Because it gives you more
support on your cursor."

"For meleeing I would always play sneaky as well as be quick. Don't swing
repetitively, swing once or twice not to alert your enemy."
