1. What's New?
Version 0.5: The first INCOMPLETE version of this guide!
*********************************************************************
2. Battle Commands
A - Your regular attack command. You'll be mainly using this
against the enemies. When you attack, you can do a Timed Hit by
pressing A right as the first hit connects with the enemy. That way,
you'll get an extra hit in and take some more damage, too!
B - Your "defensive" command. You can either choose to defend
against an attack, or even attempt to run away from a battle. You'll
usually be able to run away, but sometimes you won't be able to for a
couple of reasons. One reason is that the enemy's agility could be
faster than your party's. Another more important one is that you CAN'T
run from a battle against a boss!
X - The command you use to take an item. You can select an
item to use in battle against the enemy(s), or to heal yourself or
someone else in your group.
Y - Your special attack command. You can use a Special Attack
with this command, provided you have enough FP (Flower Points) to
execute that move!

3. Characters
Mario - The plump plumber from the Super Mario Brothers
series returns for another adventure in Super Mario RPG! He is a great
fighter with regular attacks, plus he's great with his infamous jumping
and fireball specials!
Mario's Specials

Level Learned: N/A
My Description: Mario jumps on the enemy! Press Y as you
make contact with the enemy to make it a Timed Hit.
Fire Orb
FP Used: 5
Level Learned: 3
My Description: Mario shoots a bunch of small fireballs at
a single enemy. Press Y as fast as you can to get a lot of fireballs
shot!
Super Jump
FP Used: 7
Level Learned: 6
My Description: Same as the regular jump (duh!); Mario
stomps on the enemy! Press Y right as he makes contact and he'll jump
again. Keep doing that to cause major damage!
Super Flame
FP Used: 9
Level Learned: 10
My Description: Mario shoots even larger fireballs at the
enemy! Press Y repeatedly to shoot a bunch of them at them!
Ultra Jump
FP Used: 11
Level Learned: 14
My Description: He jumps on the enemy yet again! Press Y as
you make contact and he'll jump again, just like the Super Jump. The
only difference is that you cause more damage with this special and
there are slightly longer increments between timed jumps.
Ultra Flame
FP Used: 14
Level Learned: 18
My Description: You shoot the same size fireballs as you
did with the Super Flame, but this time, they can hit multiple enemies!
They may or may not ALL the enemies on the screen, but they will
definitely hit more than one of them at the very least!
Mallow - This pudgy, white "tadpole" joins Mario at the
Mushroom Kingdom in hopes that he could help him get his Frog Coin back
from Croco. He isn't the best attacker, but he has some really great
special attacks!
Mallow's Specials
Thunderbolt
FP Used: 2
Level Learned: N/A
My Description: Mallow hits all the enemies on the screen
with thunderbolts! As the storm is about to end, press Y to make it a
timed hit for some extra damage!
HP Rain
FP Used: 2
Level Learned: 3
My Description: Mallow produces a small cloud that rains on
the selected ally, recovering their HP. Unfortunately, you can only do
it on one ally at a time; other than that, it's an OK healing spell
during the first half of the game!
Psychopath
FP Used: 1
Level Learned: 6
My Description: A couple spotlights appear and then shine
on the selected enemy. It'll show you how much HP they have remaining.
If you hit Y right as the spotlights come together, you can see what
that enemy is thinking, too!
Shocker

My Description: Mallow makes a huge lightning bolt and hits
a single enemy with it! Press Y just as you make contact to cause some
more damage.
Snowy
FP Used: 12

My Description: Mallow makes it "snow" on the screen, then
a giant snowman appears on top of the enemies! It's very useful against
fire enemies and it hits ALL enemies onscreen, too!
Star Rain
FP Used: 14
Level Learned: 18
My Description: Mallow makes a star appear and fall on the
enemies! Press Y just before it makes contact with the ground to make
it hit again, then keep doing that for multiple hits!
Geno - This stranger from the Star Road comes down to earth
and comes to life inside the doll named Geno. He has some really good
special attacks, including one that could take 9,999 HP damage from
almost any enemy!
Geno's Specials
Geno Beam
FP Used: 3
Level Learned: N/A
My Description: Geno shoots a ray beam at an enemy. For
this attack to work, you have to hold Y down until 3 stars appear then
release for an attack!
Geno Boost
FP Used: 4
Level Learned: 8
My Description: Geno raises a single ally's attack (both
regular and special) stats in battle. If you press Y before the arrows
pointing upward disappear, and that ally's defense stats go up, too
(only in that battle, though)!
Geno Whirl
FP Used: 8
Level Learned: 11
My Description: Geno throws a slicer at the enemy. If you
hit the Y button as it leaves the screen, you can cause 9,999 HP damage
to an enemy, instantly killing them! It doesn't work on any of the
bosses, though.
Geno Blast
FP Used: 12
Level Learned: 14
My Description: Geno puts on a light show that hurts all
the enemies on the screen. You have to hold Y to charge up this move,
too!
Geno Flash
FP Used: 16
Level Learned: 17
My Description: After you hold Y and release it when 3
stars appear, Geno turns into a cannon and shoots an orangish ball
towards the enemies! It becomes really big and causes damage to every
enemy onscreen.
Bowser - The King of the Koopas comes and kidnaps the
Princess again! After the giant sword crashed into Bowser's Keep, he
got sent to another part of the world. You find him at Booster's Tower,
and he helps you get in, then "lets" you join the Koopa Troop. He's a
great attacker, but he doesn't really have any really good specials,
though.
Bowser's Specials
Terrorize
FP Used: 6
Level Learned: N/A
My Description: Bowser summons a Big Boo to come and scare
all the enemies on the screen. You have to rotate the Control Pad
clockwise to make this move work.
Poison Gas
FP Used: 10
Level Learned: 12
My Description: Bowser makes a poisonous cloud appear and
spread poisonous gas above the enemies. If it's effective against an
enemy, their HP slowly gets taken away until they die! You have to
rotate the Control Pad again to do this move.
Crusher
FP Used: 12
Level Learned: 15
My Description: Bowser makes a giant, jagged rock come out

hits the enemy to cause some more damage!
Bowser Crush
FP Used: 16

screen, hitting all the enemies on the screen. Press Y repeatedly to
attack.
Princess Toadstool - The Princess joins Mario after he
rescues her in Marrymore, then as he leaves the Mushroom Castle when he
escorts her back there. She isn't really good at attacking at all, but
the good part about having her is that she can heal your entire party!
Princess Toadstool's Specials
Therapy
FP Used: 2
Level Learned: N/A
My Description: She recovers one ally's HP and cures them
from any irregular stats (scared, mushroom, scarecrow, etc.).
Group Hug
FP Used: 4
Level Learned: N/A
My Description: This special is the same thing as Therapy,
but you cure the entire party! Press Y just as it ends to recover a
little bit more HP!
Sleepy Time
FP Used: 4
Level Learned: 11
My Description: This special attack puts the targeted enemy
to sleep if effective. You have to rotate the Control Pad clockwise to
execute this attack.
Come Back
FP Used: 2
Level Learned: 13
My Description: This special works like the Pick Me Up item
does; it revives a fallen ally and recovers half their total HP! Press
Y just as the spell is about to end to recover that ally's entire HP!
Mute
FP Used: 3
Level Learned: 15
My Description: This special prevents the enemy you were
aiming to hit from using their special moves if it's effective! You
have to rotate the Control Pad again to do this move.
Psych Bomb
FP Used: 15
Level Learned: 18
My Description: The Princess throws lots of tiny bombs at
all the enemies on the screen! Press Y fast repeatedly to throw the
bombs somewhat quicker.

4. Walkthrough
*** Introduction ***
The game opens showing the Princess sitting in the garden
outside Mario's house picking flowers. It is a pretty nice day outside
and nothing is wrong. Suddenly, the background goes pitch black and the
Princess starts to get up. Then, out of nowhere, Bowser swoops in with
his Flying Clown Cup and kidnaps the Princess! Then, Mario runs out of
the house and heads to Bowser's Keep. The next scene opens showing
Bowser flying to the keep, then Mario runs across the bridge outside
the keep to the entrance. The door opens and Mario runs in, thus
starting the game.
*** Bowser's Keep ***
You start the game in Bowser's Keep to save the Princess
again from Bowser. In the first room of the keep, there's nothing to
worry about, so just go through the door to the next room. In this
room, there are a bunch of Terrapins patrolling the room, so watch out
for them and try not to get into a battle with them; you get NOTHING
for beating them! Go through the room to the door and the Terrapins
standing by the door will spot you and approach you, pitting you into a
battle against 4 Terrapins. They're very easy to beat and their attacks
only take 1 HP damage from you, so just use a regular attack on each to
defeat them. Then, go through the door. In this room, simply run across
the bridges to the other side. When you reach the far ledge by the
door, the 2nd bridge will collapse so all you can do is go through the
door. Walk towards the end of the room and you'll see a couple of
chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, as well as the Princess hanging
by a rope high above you! The camera will move upward and Mario will
automatically jump up the chandelier next to Bowser's and a battle will
start. To win this fight, just use a timed Jump attack on the Kinklink.
Bowser's attacks won't hurt you too badly, so ignore him and his
attacks. Do the timed Jump attack once more and you'll hear a crackling
sound and the Kinklink will start to lose its grip. Bowser will freak
out and the chandelier will drop with him on it. Then, he'll throw a
mallet up at the Kinklink holding Mario's chandelier up and that chain
will lose its grip, too. Bowser will throw another mallet up and
Mario's chandelier will drop as well until you're level with Bowser in
the air. After Bowser finishes talking, he'll leap towards you to
attack and Mario will counter by jumping on Bowser, thus springing him
upward towards where the Princess is hanging. Bowser will drop with the
chandelier and Mario will reach the chains up above. Then, he'll reach
the Princess and just as he's about to save her, a loud rumbling
occurs. You'll see a scene of a large star above Bowser's Keep, then
you'll see it shatter and a sword will spiral down through the clouds
into the keep. The impact of the sword causes Mario to be sent out of
the keep and into the sky, and the Princess and Bowser's locations are
unknown.
*** Mario's Pad ***
The scene at Mario's Pad opens showing Toad outside the
Pipe House walking back and forth. Then, he stops moving and the camera
moves up a small bit looking towards the sky to show Mario flying
across the sky, then crash-landing inside the Pipe House. Toad then
runs inside and talks for a moment, and then goes outside again. When
you can control Mario, jump down from the wall and exit the house. Go
talk to Toad, then use the Save Point nearby and exit the pad and head
to Bowser's Keep.
*** Bowser's Keep ***
As Mario walks across the stony bridge to the castle door, he
looks up and panics as he spots the giant sword staring back at him!
The sword (also known as Exor) declares that it has taken over the
keep, then it'll destroy the bridge to the keep, causing Mario to run
away to nearby Vista Hill. Mario looks back at the keep and the sword
while standing on the hill, then he walks away. Now it's time to go
back to Mario's Pad to alert Toad of the situation.
*** Mario's Pad ***
Go inside the Pipe House and talk to Toad, who's standing by
the window. Mario will then reinact the scene at Bowser's Keep with
Exor, then Toad will tell you that he's going to go inform the
Chancellor about the Princess then leaves the house. Now, you leave the
house and head down the path as if you're leaving Mario's Pad, then
Toad will run back and hit you accidentally. He'll talk for a moment,
then give you a Mushroom. When he asks you if you know how to use
items, say yes so he doesn't have to demonstrate to you how. Listen to
Toad talk some more, then a Goomba will appear. When Toad asks you
about Timed Hits, say yes so you don't have to see that presentation,
either. The Goomba will walk away. Toad will talk for a while longer,
then he'll give you 3 more Mushrooms and leave. Now, save the game if
you want, then leave the pad and head to Mushroom Way.
*** Mushroom Way ***
This is the first area where you can fight enemies and gain
Exp. points and Coins by beating them. It is also quite easy so it
shouldn't be too difficult to get through this area! You should also
fight alot of the enemies you run into to gain a level or two before
you reach the Hammer Brothers at the end of the stage. From the start,
just head up the path and hit the chest there until it empties to get 5
Coins. Keep going and you'll see Toad being trapped by a seemingly lone
Goomba. Engage in battle with that Goomba and defeat the 2 Goombas to
rescue Toad. He'll give you a Honey Syrup for your help and run away.
Hit the chest repeatedly to get 8 Coins, then take the path to the 2nd
section. In this section, head to the spinning red flower and defeat
the 3 Goombas in battle then stand on the flower yourself. Wait until
you're facing the right ledge and jump towards it from the flower to
find Toad being held captive by a Sky Troopa. Defeat the 2 Sky Troopas
in battle to rescue Toad yet again. Toad will give you a Flower Tab,
then run away. Next, drop off the platform and continue through the
area to the path leading to the last area of Mushroom Way and hit the
chest right before it to get a Recovery Mushroom. Take the path to the
final area and fight a bunch of Spikeys until you reach Level 2 because
that's when you should be strong enough to beat the enemies ahead.
After you're done gaining Exp. points, continue towards the right end
of the area and you'll find Toad being held captive once again, but
this time by a Hammer Bro! Approach the Hammer Bro once, and then
approach him a second time to start the battle. It's fairly easy to
defeat the 2 Hammer Bros. in battle. The easiest way to fight them is
to concentrate on one of them at a time. You shouldn't worry about
their attacks, either, because they don't present a real threat to you
for they only take a couple HP away from you. Defeat the first Bro by
using a timed Jump attack, then a timed regular attack. The remaining
brother will then use Valor Up to make his defenses stronger. Do the
same as for the other brother to defeat this one as well, but you might
have to use another timed regular attack or two if needed. After
they're defeated, Toad will pick up and bring you a hammer that the
Hammer Bros. left behind, then he'll talk for a moment and head to the
Mushroom Kingdom. Now, equip the Hammer as your new weapon, and then
take the path out of Mushroom Way and head to the Mushroom Kingdom.
*** Mushroom Kingdom ***
When you enter the kingdom, just head straight into the
castle. If you want to get the Hidden Chest in the castle because this
is the ONLY part in the game when you could get it, you should go to
the Inn and save your game before entering the castle. When you enter
the castle, Toad will stop and tell you to follow him down the hall,
and then he walks ahead. Follow him all the way through the halls to
the Chancellor. The Chancellor will talk to you, then Mario will
reinact the fight with Bowser and the encounter with the sword to show
him what happened. After he's done talking, Mario will turn and the
Chancellor will call to him again. He'll then give Mario a Map of the
world. Then, Mario will start to head down the steps and the Chancellor
will call to him AGAIN, causing him to fall down the stairs! The
Chancellor will then tell you to head down to the basement and talk to
the Vault Guard. Now that you can control Mario again, head back to the
first room in the castle and take the path to the right to another
room. Talk to the Vault Guard that's standing by the stairs and he'll
lead you down to the basement. In the vault, hit the 3 chests to get 10
Coins, a Flower, and a Recovery Mushroom. Next, go back upstairs and to
the first room of the castle again. Now, take the left path and go up
the stairs. Continue into the Princess's room and walk up to the blue
chair near the back of the room. Press A and it'll say that you found
the Princess's ???, but the old lady nearby will scold you and give you
a Mushroom. Now, go back downstairs and exit the castle. Outside,
you'll see a marshmallow with legs chasing after a crocodile. After a
short scene, the marshmallow guy will give up the chase and start
crying, which causes a rainstorm! Go talk to him and he'll stop crying
and introduce himself as Mallow. After he tells you about how that
crocodile stole his coin, he'll join your party. Now, go to the Tool
Shop and talk to the shopkeeper. He'll give you a free Pick Me Up.
Then, talk to him again and buy the Shirt and Jump Shoes for Mario and
the Pants for Mallow. You should also buy a couple Honey Syrups and
Pick Me Ups (you shouldn't need any Mushrooms if you still have the
ones from earlier in the game), then leave the shop. Walk down the path
and you'll see a mushroom kid hopping up and down in a panic. Walk past
him and he'll stop you and tell you about the crocodile that was
causing trouble in the kingdom. After he's done talking, head to the
Inn and save your game if you want, then go back down the path by that
kid and take the path out of the Mushroom Kingdom. From there, head on
to Bandit's Way.
*** Bandit's Way ***
When you enter this area, you'll find Croco standing there at
the start. He'll spot you and run away, so now it's time to go after
him! From the start, head down and right until you see a Save Point in
the lower-left part of the area. Save at that point, and then take the
path into the next area. In this area, jump onto the red spinning
flower and use it to jump onto the higher ledge. Then, go right and
jump from platform to platform in the air because each time you step on
one, the other one rotates in front of you so you can jump onto it.
Collect the coins in the air, then continue right and take the path to
the next area. In the next area, you have to follow Croco up and
through this area. Continue until you reach the last intersection, then
take the right path and defeat the K-9 underneath the chest, then hit
the chest to get a Recovery Mushroom. Now, go back down, left, and up
to the next area. After Croco runs away AGAIN, jump onto the yellow
platform to the right, then jump at an angle to hit the chest in the
air to get the Super Star. Then, drop down and hit EVERY K-9 that you
see until the star's power runs out to get lots of Exp. points. (You
should gain a level at least by doing this!) Then, continue on to the
final area. You'll see Croco there; he'll taunt you, then run away
again. Enter the area and look for Croco. When you find him, simply
sneak up behind him 3 times, then he'll stop running and battle you!
Check out the Boss Strategies section of this guide to find out how to
beat Croco. After you beat him, you'll get Mallow's coin back, as well
as find a wallet. Now, a trampoline will appear nearby, so jump on it
to be transported back to the first area of Bandit's Way. Just head up
and exit the level and head back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
*** Mushroom Kingdom ***
When you return to the Mushroom Kingdom, you'll find that
it's infested with Shysters scaring the people. The first thing you
should do is defeat the Shyster chasing the mushroom guard nearby;
he'll give you 10 Coins for saving him. Then, beat the Shyster
following the mushroom guy with a blue hat, and then talk to him. Give
him his wallet back and he'll give you a Flower Tab. Now, what you
should do is fight all the Shysters in town, including the one hitting
the house and the 3 inside of the big house. After you beat the 3
Shysters inside the house, the father will give you a Flower Tab for
your help! Now, head inside the castle to find more Shysters and Toad
being chased by one. Defeat the Shyster chasing him and he'll run into
another room. Follow him, and then defeat the 2 Shysters there to make
that room safe. Go up to the next room and the Shysters will fight you
as you head for the door. Defeat them and enter the room with Toad.
He'll be so happy that you helped him that he'll give you another
Flower Tab, which belonged to the Princess. While you're in this room,
talk to the old mushroom that scolded you before when you came here,
and she'll completely restore your HP and FP, then save your game at
the Save Point. Since fighting all those Shysters more than likely
brought Mario and Mallow up to Level 4 or 5, it's time to head to the
throne room. Make your way back to the main hall and take the right
path. Fight the 2 Shysters scaring the mushroom guy then enter the
upper room and talk to the frightened Vault Guard. He'll give you a
Wake Up Pin, which you should equip on Mallow. Now, go to the main hall
again and go up while trying to avoid the endless supply of Shysters
coming through the door. Go through the next couple rooms, fighting the
Shysters along the way until you get into the throne room. The Shysters
will spot you and Mack will come forward. Then, Mack and 4 Shysters
will surround you and you'll enter a battle against Mack and his
minions for the star. After you defeat Mack, you can claim the first
star! Next, go talk to the Chancellor and Mallow will talk about asking
his grandpa for help, so they should go to Tadpole Pond. After you gain
control of Mario again, exit the castle. Head to the Tool Shop and talk
to the shopkeeper and he'll give Mallow the Cricket Pie in exchange for
the Frog Coin Mallow got from Croco. Now, head to the Inn and save your
game, then leave Mushroom Kingdom for Kero Sewers!
*** Kero Sewers ***
When you enter the area, go down the pipe to enter the
sewers. Once there, save your game at the nearby Save Point, then jump
into the water and swim to the right. Keep swimming right until you
reach the "shallow" section of the water and jump out at that point and
go down the pipe that's there. In the next room, drop down to the lower
ledge to the right and go down that pipe. When you emerge in the
following room, drop down to the ground to the right, then go up the
steps and hit the chest to fight Pandorite, the chest monster. Defeat
him by having Mario do a few timed Jump or Super Jump (if he learned it
already) attacks while Mallow defends or heals. After you beat him,
you'll get a Flower Jar and a Trueform Pin, which you should equip on
Mario. Next, stand on the top step or second to top step, then jump up
onto the higher ledge. Go all the way left then hit the chest to get a
Flower, then go up the steps and head right. Go right and up the steps,
then left and up those steps. Then, go right and down the pipe. Hit the
chest next to the pipe to get the Super Star, then go down to the
platform with the 4 Rat Funks and defeat them. Go up the steps and
defeat the Boo that's there, too. Now, go left and down the pipe to the
next room. Go left along the path where there are Rat Funks walking
back and forth. Fight them or try and jump over them. (I'd rather you
fight them; they're not that hard.) Go down the pipe, then in the next
room, jump onto the ledge to the right where a Rat Funk is standing
there. Defeat it, then drop down to the lower ledge and go down that
pipe. Next, go up the steps and go right, and push the green ! switch
to drain the water from the previous rooms. Drop back down to the pipe
and go down it. Drop down the ledge to the floor and go all the way
down until you reach a pipe you couldn't access before. Go down that
pipe and hit the nearby chest to get the Recovery Mushroom inside, then
save your game at the Save Point. Then, go right and down the pipe to
reach the room with Belome inside. Go up to him and you'll enter a
battle against him. After you beat Belome, the switch he was standing
on will rise and the gate will open, causing tons of water to come
gushing in, washing you down the Midas River course.
*** Midas River ***
Since this area is more like a mini-game than a real level,
I won't get into too much detail for now. Look in the mini-games
section of this guide to find more detailed info on this course. Just
go down the first half swimming against the current trying to nab all
the Coins and Frog Coins you can. In the second half, you have to ride
a barrel down the river while jumping to collect the coins in the air
and to avoid the piranhas that just out of the water and attempt to
steal some coins from you! When you reach the end, the mushroom guy
will give you Frog Coins, depending on how many coins you got
throughout the Midas River. He'll also give you the Noknok Shell, which
you should equip Mario as his new weapon. Save your game at the Save
Point if you want, then exit the area and go to Tadpole Pond.
*** Tadpole Pond ***
When you enter this area, simply walk straight ahead and
stand on the gray stone/switch and a tadpole will swim up to you. Then,
a whole bunch of them will emerge from the pond and ask that you jump
for them. Do your thing, and then Frogfucius will float in via a
Lakitu. He'll have the tadpoles form a bridge for you and then floats
back to the island he lives on. Now, jump from tadpole to tadpole to
the island and Frogfucius will talk to you for a while. He's just
telling you that the Princess and Bowser aren't at the keep anymore and
that they're still out there in the world somewhere. Then, Mallow will
say something and Frogfucius will reveal that Mallow is NOT a tadpole!
He'll start crying, and then Frogfucius will have him join Mario on his
journey. After the whole scene is done and Frogfucius is standing at
the edge of the island all upset, go talk to him again. He'll be so
happy that you brought him the Cricket Pie from the Mushroom Kingdom
that he'll give you the Froggie Stick, which you should equip Mallow
with. Now, jump back across the bridge of tadpoles and go right. Take
the path into the next area to reach Melody Bay. Stand on the gray
stone/switch and play "Frogfucius' Suite #18" on the bay. To find out
how to play it, look in the Melody Bay Songs section of this guide.
After you play it, Toadofsky will give you an Alto Card, which you
could use to buy things at the Juice Bar, located at the far left end
of Tadpole Pond. Next, save your game at the Save Point, then head back
down the path out of Melody Bay, then head left and down to exit
Tadpole Pond. Now it's time to head on to Rose Way.
*** Rose Way ***
From the start of this area, jump onto the yellow platform in
the air and ride it to its first stop, then get off it. Take the
Recovery Mushroom on that island if you need it, then jump onto the
next platform and ride it to the next island. Get off there and take
the Flower, then jump onto the next platform. Get off at this
platform's first stop, then enter the next area, where you'll see 2
yellow platforms swinging back and forth, each with a Shy guy on top of
it. Jump onto the 1st platform when it reaches its lowest point, defeat
the Shy guy, then ride the platform until you come close to the other
platform. Defeat the Shy guy on that one, too, then ride the platform
to the chest, then jump to the chest and hit it to get a Frog Coin.
Next, jump off the platform and exit this room. Back in the main room
again, jump onto the yellow platform and ride it to its third stop,
then get off and take the path to the next area. Simply follow the path
through this room and you'll end up back in the "platform room". Get on
the platform there and ride it to its first stop and get off, then get
onto the other platform. Ride that platform to its 2nd stop, then get
off and enter the next room. In this room, there are 5 chests, each
with a Shy guy on top of them. Go around the room, hitting the chests
until they empty and defeating the Shy guys that fall from the chests
to get some Exp. points. By emptying all 5 chests, you will collect 20
Coins and a Recovery Mushroom. Now, go down and enter the next area. In
this room, you'll find Bowser and his troops. After they all leave,
take the path up and out of Rose Way and head to Rose Town.
*** Rose Town ***
Upon entering Rose Town, you'll find that arrows are falling
from the sky, hitting and completely paralyzing the people they hit so
they cannot move. What you should do first in this now dangerous town
is get to the upper-left corner of town and talk to the guy that can
move. Then, jump on his head, then onto the higher ledge and enter the
house. Hit the 2 chests to get 2 Flowers, then head upstairs where
you'll find a green ! switch. Hit the switch and go back downstairs and
outside the house. There will be a set of stairs there and the guy will
come up them and thank you, then go inside where it's safe. Go in the
house again and talk to that guy; he'll give you directions to a hidden
area in the Forest Maze. I'll tell you how to find this section when we
get to the Forest Maze part of this guide. Now, leave the house and
head to the upper-right part of town and enter the Tool Shop. Buy the
Thick Shirt and Pants for Mario and Mallow and stock up on Honey Syrups
Pick Me Ups, and Mushrooms if you need them, then leave the shop. Head
back to the entrance of town and go left and enter the Inn. You'll see
a kid playing with his Mario, Princess, and Bowser dolls. When he
notices that you're there, he'll get his mother. When the kid asks to
prove that you're Mario, do your jump and his mother will ask that you
play with her son, Gaz. Agree to play and Gaz will bring out his Geno
doll and accidentally shoot Mario with Geno's shooting star attack and
knock him out! Later that night while everyone is sleeping, a tiny star
will appear in the Inn and float around above the dolls. It'll then
descend upon the Geno doll and "possess" it, making it life-size and
real. It'll then walk out of the Inn. When Mario wakes up, save at the
Save Point, and then go downstairs only to hear Gaz and his mom argue
about the Geno doll and how it walked into the forest. After they're
done, leave the Inn and the town and head to the Forest Maze.
*** Forest Maze ***
This stage is quite long and can be really annoying,
especially when you reach the room with the 4 paths! There are also
many mushrooms on the ground that you can take. Be warned though, that
some are actually enemies in disguise and they move as soon as you're
too close to them! As for the ones that don't attack you, they're just
regular mushrooms, which you could use to recover 30 HP, just like the
items. From the start, walk straight ahead into the next room where
there is a stump with a Wiggler walking around. Go down the stump into
the underground cave. Get through the cave and hop on the trampoline to
go back outside. Next, just go up and right and take the path to the
next room, where you'll find 7 stumps. Go to the very last stump at the
back end of the room and go down it, then head left in the cave and
you'll see a sleeping Wiggler. Jump on it to make it wake up and a loud
rumbling will occur and you'll get thrown back out of the stump. You'll
find that a new path has opened up behind the stump, so take that path!
Get to the stump where you'll see a Wiggler crawling into it and go
down that stump. In the cave, you'll find that same Wiggler from
earlier all shaken up trying to sleep again. Ignore it and go through
the cave to the next trampoline and jump on it. Once you're back
outside, head up and right and save at the Save Point about halfway
through the room. Next, take the path up the next room. You'll find
yourself in a room with 4 paths where each path takes you to an
identical room (just like the Lost Woods scene in Zelda for NES).
You'll also see Geno standing by one of the paths. Before I talk about
following Geno, I'm going to give you the directions to the hidden room
that the guy in Rose Town told you about. The directions (assuming that
you just entered the room with the 4 paths) are: left, left, straight,
and right. These directions are through Mario's point of view, NOT
yours, so keep that in mind. When you find the hidden room, go down the
stump and hit all the chests to find Recovery Mushrooms, Flowers, and a
Frog Coin! Now leave this room and take the path going up and you'll
see Geno. Follow him as he heads through different paths until you
don't find him, then take the path to the right, then up. You'll find
Geno again by the path to the left. Go through that path and you'll
reach the next room where Bowyer and his minions are! Bowyer is
obviously the one that has been sending arrows into Rose Town stunning
the people. Mario and Mallow will hide behind a stump and a minion will
walk in with a star piece. Geno will appear again and demand that
Bowyer gives him the star piece. While Geno is fighting Bowyer, Mario
and Mallow will be hanging out on the side. Then, they'll jump in on
the battle and it'll become a 3-on-1 battle against Bowyer. Read the
Boss Strategies section of this guide for info on fighting Bowyer.
After the three of you beat Bowyer, Geno will introduce himself and
explain to you about the Star Road and the star pieces and how they're
needed to repair the Star Road and restore peace. Then, Mario will
claim the star and the camera will zoom in on an arrow minion that
listened in on the conversation about the Star Road and he'll declare
that he must inform Smithy about the stars, then run off. Now, continue
up the path and exit the Forest Maze and go back to Rose Town!
*** Rose Town ***
Now that Bowyer is gone, falling arrows no longer stun the
people and peace is restored to Rose Town. Enter the Inn and talk to
Gaz. Mario, Mallow, and Geno will try and explain to him the Star Road
situation, then Gaz will give you a Finger Shot. Equip that on Geno so
he has a good weapon, then stay the night. In the morning, save your
game, leave the Inn, and then leave Rose Town and head to the Pipe
Vault.
*** Pipe Vault ***
This entire area is optional and you can just skip over it,
but going through here is the only way to access Yo'ster Isle. Also,
this place is really easy and you can get some extra coins and Exp.
Points by playing through it. From the start, go down the pipe to go
below ground. In the 1st room, just jump from ledge to ledge above the
lava while trying to avoid the fireballs that come out of the lava
unless you want to fight them. In the next room, just go straight up
the steps while trying not to get crushed by the Thwomp! Then, jump
over the pipe with the piranha plant, and then go down the 2nd pipe to
the next room. In this room, there are 6 pipes with piranha plants
living in most of them. Go down the 2nd pipe and run straight to collect
a bunch of coins, then push Down at the last second to slide under the
wall and collect the Frog Coin as well, then jump on the trampoline to
get back up into the room with the pipes. Now, go down the second to
last pipe and you'll see a mole guy and 4 pipes. Since this is also a
mini-game, I won't go into detail here; look in the Mini-Games section
for info on it. Use the trampoline to get back up, then go down the
last pipe to the next room. Get through this room by jumping from
platform to platform, jumping over the tan colored pipe, and then go
down the green one. In this room, there are 4 tan colored pipes with
piranha plants coming out of them, as well as a couple of little white
plant things that steal your coins if they bite you! Fight some piranha
plants, jump over the "coin thief" plants, then go down the green pipe
to the next room. In this room, jump onto the yellow platform when it's
at its lowest point, then hit the chest above it to get some coins,
then drop off it and continue right. Jump across the ledges to avoid
the white plant things below you, then jump onto the next yellow
platform. Try and hit the chest above you while landing on the platform
each time or else the plants below you will steal a bunch of your
coins! Next, go right and go down the last green pipe to exit the Pipe
Vault and emerge in Yo'ster Isle!
*** Yo'ster Isle ***
When you first emerge at Yo'ster Isle, save your game at the
Save Point up and to the left of the pipe, then go down to the main
area. Go all the way towards the exit of this area and talk to Yoshi,
then jump on his saddle to ride him. Go back up and talk to the pink
Yoshi by the entrance to the isle and he'll give you some cookies to
challenge Boshi with. Then, go back down and talk to the blue dinosaur
with the shades; that's Boshi and challenge him to a race. Since this
is a mini-game, I'll tell more about the race in the Mini-Games
section. After you beat Boshi, all the other Yoshis could race again
and Yoshi will give you 3 Yoshi Cookies, then say his good-byes, and
then walk away. Now, go down to the bottom end of the isle and take the
path out of here. From here, head on to Moleville.
*** Moleville ***
When you enter this town, head left to the Tool Shop and go
inside. Buy the Mega Shirt and Punch Glove for Mario, the Mega Pants
and Cymbals for Mallow, and the Mega Cape for Geno. Also, buy a bunch
of Mid Mushrooms and Maple Syrups because they're more useful, so you
should sell the regular Mushrooms and Honey Syrups because they won't
be of too much use anymore in the game now that you're stronger and
have lots of HP and FP. Now, leave the Tool Shop and go down to the Inn
and enter it. Stay for the night if you have to, save your game at the
Save Point, then exit the Inn. Now, head up towards the mine at the
north end of town. When you get close to the mine entrance, you'll hear
a growling noise and the camera will show Bowser and his troops
occupying an open area next to the mine. After they leave town, head
into the mines. You'll see a couple of moles inside along with the Ma
Mole, running around in a panic. After she leaves, the other two moles
will ask if you can help by going into the mine and rescuing the 2 kids
that got trapped inside after the star piece crashed into it. Agree to
help, then jump onto their shoulders, then onto the higher ledge and
enter the next area. Head right and into the next room, then drop down
to the lower area and head up and into the next room. Jump on the
trampoline that's there and you'll hit the ceiling, then drop back down
and fall unconscious for a little while. Then, Croco and his minions
will appear and rob Mario of ALL his coins, then run away. Now, head up
and right and into the next room. Get through this room until you reach
Croco and his guys again and they'll be at a "dead-end". Then, he'll
blow a hole in the wall with a bomb, then run away. Run through that
hole and chase after Croco. Keep following Croco through the rooms and
touch him to enter a battle against him. You could fight his minions in
the other rooms as well to get a bunch of coins and a few Flower Tabs,
but it's more important to beat Croco. Read the Boss Strategies part of
this guide to get info on beating him again. After he runs away, you'll
get all your coins back as well as a bomb that he dropped. Now, get
back to the room with the trampoline and take the left path to the next
room. Continue through this room to the next one, then go up and left
in the following room and take that path to the next room. In that
room, go left and into the next room. Here, fight or avoid the Bob-omb
and the other enemies and keep going to the next room. Here, you'll
find Pa Mole standing at a dead-end. Talk to him and he'll blow open
the wall so you can continue, then he'll leave the mines. Continue
through the hole to the next room, and then go through the bottom path
to the bottom path in the next room. Run straight to the other end and
then try and go through to the next area and a Shy Guy on a mine cart
will chase you back to the room before it. He'll crash into the crates
and drop a Frog Coin, then run away. Take the Frog Coin, then climb up
the crates and onto the higher path and enter the next room from there.
Fight the 2 Bob-ombs before the chest to get some Exp. Points, then hit
the chest to get the Super Star. Run up the path, defeating the Bob-
ombs along the way and go into the next room. Beat the Bob-ombs there
and head right to the next room. In the next room, climb up the crates
and beat that Bob-omb and head into the next room then quickly run up
the tracks and beat the 4 Bob-ombs. (You might not be quick enough to
beat them before the star's power ends. Hit the chest to get the
Recovery Mushroom, then save at the Save Point. Continue up the path
and jump onto the high stack of crates, then hit the chest in mid-air
to get a Flower, then go into the next room. You'll find a bunch of
bombs and a purple enemy named Punchinello. Get behind Punchinello and
approach him to engage in battle. Check out the Boss Strategies section
to find out how to put Punchinello away. After you beat Punchinello,
the giant bomb's blast will make the star piece fall from a ledge above
you. After Mario claims the star, enter the next room. You'll find the
2 kids and a mine cart. Read the directions if you want, then you'll be
going on a mine cart ride out of the mines! At the end of the ride,
you'll fall through the ceiling into the house where the kids live.
After they thank you, leave the house and you'll see a beetle fly by,
then 3 Snifits running after it. The beetle will land on Mario's hat
and the Snifits will surround you. They'll mention a couple things,
including the "girl that fell from the sky" and about Booster and how
he likes beetles. After they all leave, save the game at the Inn, then
exit Moleville and head to Booster Pass.
*** Booster Pass ***
Since this is a real short area, this is a good place to just
hang around and gain Exp. In the first room, there's a Lakitu, who
drops Spikesters down on you. Fight them all, and then get to the far
right corner of the area. Take the Flower on the ground, then Go back
down and left a little bit and jump up to the highest ledge. Continue
going up and right and take the path to the next room. In this room, go
right and up, then take the other Flower in the corner. From there, you
could either walk directly to the left and step on a hidden switch that
seals up the holes on the higher ledges, preventing you from fighting
the Spikesters there or just ignore the switch and go down. I'd prefer
you ignore the switch because you should fight them and level up. Get
onto the higher ledge from the lower ledges in the beginning of the
room and fight the 4 Spikesters up there. After they're defeated, go up
the path and out of Booster Pass. If you're at least level 8, you're
ready to go to Booster Tower; if not, reenter the pass and train some
more.
*** Booster Tower ***
When you first enter this stage, you'll find Bowser outside
the tower. He'll be sitting there, crying, then he'll turn around and
freak out because you saw him! After he says a couple things, the
camera will move up to the top of the tower where the Princess is being
held. She'll try and call to Mario, and then the view will go back down
by Mario and Bowser. After Bowser leaves go to the tower's door and
push A; it'll say that the door is locked. Walk away as if you're
leaving the tower and Bowser will come back, figuring out that you're
determined to save the Princess. He'll break down the door, granting
you access to the inside of the tower, then he'll let you "join" the
Koopa Troop. (In other words, he joins your party.) Now, learn how to
Switch allies if you want, then switch Mallow for Bowser. Next, go
inside the tower and go left and up the steps. Go right and memorize
the order of the pictures on the wall; you'll need to remember them for
another part of this stage. Continue right and enter the next room,
then jump up the steps where endless supplies of Spookums come down the
steps. Fight then if you need the Exp. Points, or just avoid them and
continue up and left to the next room. In this room, you'll see a toy
train on a track appear above you and a crazy looking guy sitting on
it. You'll find out that he's Booster and he says something about the
girl that fell from the sky, then he'll ride away. Follow the train to
the right, then up and into the darkened area where the tracks go to
get a Flower Tab. Next, enter the next room and go up the first set of
steps. You'll see Rob-ombs walking around on the next set of steps.
Make your way up the steps, either fighting or avoiding them, then take
the first path down and to the right. You'll be on a high ledge with a
chest high above you in mid-air. Stand on the edge of the ledge on the
tan square, and then jump off the ledge. You should land on the other
end of the teeter-totter below. The bomb at the other end will rise up,
then drop down again, sending you up to the chest above you. After you
hit the chest, you'll fall to the ground, and then the Masher will fall
on your head. Equip Mario with it, then exit the room. Head left and up
the steps again, then go right and enter the next room. Go up the steps
and head left to the next room, then go down and right. Go to the next
room and go up the steps again, but when you get to the top this time,
go all the way to the right and take that path to the next room. In
this room, simply step on the green ! switch; it'll make a new area
appear in Booster Pass. Now, enter the next room and go up the steps.
Go behind the curtain and walk out the other side to turn Mario into
the classic 8-bit Mario. Try and exit the room, then he'll change back
to normal, now go right and enter the next room. In this room, go up
and right, jump onto the ledges with the Spookums, then onto the higher
ledge. Go left and do the same thing to reach the top level, then head
up and right while avoiding the Snifit's bullets, then enter the next
room. In the next room, go up all the steps with the Rob-ombs walking
around and enter the next room. Save your game at the Save Point in
this room, then go ahead to the following room and you'll see a bunch
of pictures in no particular order. Go up to each of them in order from
oldest to youngest and press A. If you get it all right, you'll get the
Elder Key; use it to open the locked door to the left. Enter that room
and jump up to the ledge with the Chained Chomp and it'll wake up.
Bowser will take it off the chain and bring it with him as a weapon.
Equip it on Bowser and leave the room, then head down and right to the
next room. In this room, go up the steps and jump on the teeter-totter
and the Thwomp will send you up to the next room up above. Now, jump
onto the ledge in the middle of the room, then onto the yellow cubed
ledge to the right. Then, jump onto the checkered platform, then onto
the ledge to the left. Now, go up the steps and enter the next room. In
this room, there are Coins, Frog Coins, and a Key scattered on the
ground. However, the floor in this room is a trap and if you hit a
trap, which you will, a Fireball enemy will appear and you'll have to
fight it. Get to the key at the upper-right part of the room, and then
unlock the door nearby. Go in that room and hit the chest to get the
Zoom Shoes. You should equip them on Geno or Bowser. Now, leave the
room and head down and left to the other door. Go through it to the
next room and go up the steps where you'll find Chained Chomps sitting
there. Get to the top, then enter the next room and the toy train and
Booster will appear on a high ledge above you. When he starts throwing
bombs at you, go down to the next room and Booster will ride away and
the bombs will explode. In this room, go up a bunch of steps and go
through the door at the top to enter the next room. Before you save, go
down and right and jump onto the yellow ledge. Now, jump from ledge to
ledge to reach the chest to the left. Open the chest to get the
Recovery Mushroom. Then, save your game and enter the next room. Walk
straight down and left to the other end of the room and you'll be at a
locked door. You'll also find the Princess on the other side of that
door, too. She'll tell you to hide from Booster because he's coming
back, so Mario will hide behind the curtains. Then, Booster and the 3
Snifits will walk in and start the wedding rehearsal. Booster will
realize that the Mario doll is missing and he'll send a Snifit to check
behind the curtains. Play hide-and-seek with the 1st Snifit by moving
around so you don't get caught. Then, another Snifit will join in and
help the 1st one look behind the curtains. Next, the third Snifit will
come help the other two. If you can manage to outlast them, Booster
will open the final curtain, but look up and find the Mario doll on a
high ledge, not knowing that the real thing is right in front of him!
Jump up under the doll and knock it off the ledge and Booster will
thank you and give you an Amulet, which you should equip on Bowser. If
you do get caught by the Snifits in the curtain game 3 times, Booster
and the Snifits will fight you. Read the Boss Strategies section to
find out how to fight them. After Booster and his Snifits open the door
and leave, go back and switch Geno for Mallow, then save your game in
the previous room. Now, go back to the curtain room and go through the
door that was once locked and Knife Guy and Grate Guy will appear and a
battle will start. Look in the Boss Strategies section for info on
beating them. Then, after they're gone, your 3 allies will jump off the
balcony and leave the tower, heading to Booster Hill.
*** Booster Hill ***
This area isn't a real level; it's just another mini-game
that you must do now, but you can come back later and play this course
again and again. All you have to do now is chase Booster up the hill
while jumping on barrels and the Snifits to get closer to the Princess.
Each time you touch her, she'll give you a Flower and Booster will
knock you back a little bit. After you reach the top, you'll enter
Marrymore.
*** Marrymore ***
When you enter Marrymore, head right into the Inn/Tool Shop.
Buy the Happy Shirt for Mario, the Happy Pants and Whomp Glove for
Mallow, the Happy Cape and Hand Gun for Geno, and the Happy Shell for
Bowser. Also, buy some Mid Mushrooms and Maple Syrups if you need them.
Then, switch Mallow for Geno, save your game at the nearby Save Point,
then leave the shop and head towards the chapel. Talk to the people
there and you'll see a Snifit kick a soon-to-be couple, Raz and Raini
from the Mushroom Kingdom, out of the chapel. Talk to them, then go
right and to the side of the chapel. Walk to the left and you'll enter
through the back entrance! Go up the stairs and you'll be in the main
area of the chapel. Walk to the middle of the room and a Snifit will
catch you and then try and run through the door at the top of the
steps. Since it's locked, he'll ask you help him break it down, so run
with him and break down the door. You'll stop in the next room and the
Snifits will all crash into the room ahead. They'll shut and lock that
door. Now, save the game and go to the door and press the A button. The
Snifit will say something, then Bowser will come out and get upset.
Then he'll move back and attempt to knock down the door. Run with him
to knock it down and you'll be in the main room. The Snifits will knock
into the Princess and her various accessories will be scattered
throughout the room. The Snifits will take the ones they can find in
between the pews. Now, go up to each of the Snifits and talk to them,
making them give you the accessory they have. When you have the 3 that
the Snifits had, go up to Booster and jump on his head and take the
crown. Jump down and talk to Booster and give him the items. Then, the
Princess will freak out because Bowser is with you, then an argument
breaks out about who gives who a kiss: Mario, Bowser, or Booster? If
you picked up the Princess's items really quickly, the Princess will
kiss you; if you took your time, the other two will kiss you! After the
kissing thing is solved, Mario, Bowser, and the Princess start to leave
the chapel and Chef Torte and his Apprentice come in with the cake
wondering why everyone's leaving. They get upset and start a battle
with you. Check out the Boss Strategies section of the guide to find
out how to beat them. After you beat them and their cake, Booster and
the Snifits will leave Marrymore and Mario and the group will leave the
room. In the waiting room, Raz and Raini and their guests are standing
around waiting. Then, they all enter the chapel now that Booster is
gone. Now, exit the chapel and take the path down and to the right to
exit Marrymore and head all the way back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
*** Mushroom Kingdom ***
When you get back to the Mushroom Kingdom, head straight up
the path and right into the castle. Toad will be waiting yet again in
the hallway. He'll see you and then be surprised when he sees the
Princess with you. He then takes you directly to the Chancellor. Then,
the Chancellor gets to meet your entire party and hear their stories,
and then the Princess decides to stay at the Mushroom Kingdom. When you
can control Mario again, leave the throne room and exit the castle. The
Princess will call to you and float down from a castle window with her
parasol. Talk to her and Mallow will suggest visiting Frogfucius again,
then the Princess will join you! Leave the Mushroom Kingdom and head to
Tadpole Pond.

7. Boss Strategies
Hammer Bro
HP: 50
Strengths: Jump
Weaknesses: N/A
Thoughts: N/A
It's fairly easy to defeat the 2 Hammer Bros. in battle. The
easiest way to fight them is to concentrate on one of them at a time.
You shouldn't worry about their attacks, either, because they don't
present a real threat to you for they only take a small amount of HP
away from you. Defeat the first Bro by using a timed Jump attack, then
a timed regular attack. The remaining brother will then use Valor Up to
make his defenses stronger. To beat this brother, do 2 timed Jump
attacks, then keep doing timed regular attacks until he's defeated.
Croco (1st Fight)
HP: 320
Strengths: Sleep
Weaknesses: Fire
Thoughts: "Gosh, I'm good!"
To defeat Croco, have Mario cast Fire Orb, and have Mallow
defend, heal, or use Honey Syrup when the FP runs low and Mario can't
cast Fire Orb anymore. When Croco has under 100 HP left, he'll use a
Weird Mushroom to recover some of his HP. Just keep pummeling him with
Fire Orb attacks until he gives the coin back and runs away for good.
Mack
HP: 480
Strengths: Fear, Poison, Sleep, and Silence
Weaknesses: Thunder
Thoughts: "Boing, boing, boing."
To defeat Mack, have Mario use timed regular attacks on Mack,
while Mallow uses timed Thunderbolt attacks on the whole group. Mack's
attacks take away around 5-10 HP each hit, so have Mallow heal when
necessary. Keep attacking until they're all defeated.
Belome (1st Fight)
HP: 500
Strengths: Sleep
Weaknesses: Thunder
Thoughts: "I just... wanna sleep."
You should be at Level 6 by now, so it won't be hard at all
to beat this guy! To defeat Belome, have Mario do timed Jump or Super
Jump attacks while Mallow does timed Thunderbolt attacks. After a
while, Belome will eat Mallow whole and will usually attempt to turn
Mario into a scarecrow when he's alone. Since you have the Trueform
Pin, you won't be affected! Keep attacking him until he spits out
Mallow and vanishes from the sewers.
Bowyer
HP: 720
Strengths: Fear, Poison, Sleep, and Silence
Weaknesses: N/A
Thoughts: "What's with these folks?"
Bowyer will make 3 squares symbolizing the A, Y, and X
buttons appear in front of him. Whenever he shoots an arrow and it hits
a button, you can't use that button until he hits another one with
another arrow. To defeat Bowyer, have Geno attack or use Geno Beam,
Mario use timed Super Jumps or regular timed attacks, and Mallow do
regular timed attacks or heal. Keep doing this until Bowyer is finally
defeated.
Croco (2nd Fight)
HP: 750
Strengths: Sleep
Weaknesses: Fire
Thoughts: "Ooh! I'm good!"
Beating Croco this time is a bit harder than it was in
Bandit's Way because he has stronger attacks and more than twice as
much HP. Also, Mario's Fire Orb doesn't do as much damage to him
anymore. To beat him, have Geno do timed regular attacks, Mario do
timed regular attacks or Super Jumps, and Mallow do timed regular
attacks or heal when needed. About halfway through the fight, he'll
steal all your items, making it harder for you. Keep on pummeling him
with attacks until he gives you the items back then runs away!
Punchinello
HP: 1200
Strengths: Jump, Fear, Poison, Sleep, and Silence
Weaknesses: N/A
Thoughts: "Yeeha! I see we're already famous!"
Punchinello isn't really too hard to defeat because he hardly
ever attacks, but he has a bunch of bombs come into battle to explode
at will, causing some damage to whoever they hit. You should also be at
least up to Level 7 or 8 before fighting him. To beat Punchinello, have
Mario do timed regular attacks, Geno do timed regular attacks or use
Geno Boost, and have Mallow cast Thunderbolt to hit all the bombs and
Punchinello. After he's down to about 800 HP, he'll call out regular
sized Bob-ombs to help him. Keep attacking like before until he's down
to about 400 HP. Then, he'll make larger Mezzo Bombs come to fight.
Keep on attacking Punchinello until he has no more HP, then he'll make
a giant bomb come, crushing him. The bomb will then explode, ending the
battle.
Booster/ Snifit (x3)
HP: 800/ 200
Strengths: Sleep
Weaknesses: Jump
Thoughts: N/A/ "Minimum wage for THIS?!"
This is an optional fight because you don't HAVE to fight him
to continue through the game. You first fight his 3 Snifits. Fight them
one at a time by having Mario, Bowser, and Geno using timed regular
attacks until they're all gone. Then, Booster will start to fight you!
Have Mario do a bunch of timed Super Jumps on him while the others just
attack or cure if needed and he'll be finished in no time!
Grate Guy/ Knife Guy
HP: 900/ 700
Strengths: Fire, Sleep/ Thunder, and Sleep
Weaknesses: Thunder/ Fire
Thoughts: "Peace is just a dream."/ "Happiness is hip!"
When you're fighting these guys, you should concentrate on
one at a time. Have Mario use his timed regular attack, Bowser use
timed regular attacks, and Mallow cast Thunderbolt to hurt Grate Guy,
or heal if needed. After a few turns, Knife Guy will stand on Grate
Guy's head and attack from there. Now, keep on attacking and they'll
drop down to the ground and one of them will disappear if you hurt that
guy enough. Keep on attacking the remaining guy until he's defeated.
Bundt/ Raspberry
HP: 900/ 600
Strengths: Fire, Thunder, Ice, Fear, Poison, and Sleep
Weaknesses: Jump
Thoughts: "Congratulations!"
You should be at around level 9 before fighting this boss.
The battle starts with the 2 chefs and the cake. While the chefs cause
minimal damage with their attacks, concentrate on the cake with Mario,
Geno, and Bowser. After a few rounds of attacks, the cake will start
moving and the chefs will get scared and run away. Now, the cake's 5
candles will light up and the real battle will start! Each time you
harm Bundt, a candle blows out; each time Bundt harms you, a candle is
re-lit. Keep attacking Bundt as much as you can with timed regular and
Jump attacks until all the candles are out and Bundt disappears,
leaving Raspberry. Keep pummeling Raspberry with Super Jumps and
regular timed attacks from everyone until the Snifits and Booster
appear again. The Snifits will feed Booster the cake and that will end
the battle.

9. Hidden Treasure Chest Locations
This section was taken out of my Hidden Chests FAQ, also
posted at GameFAQs. I just added it into this guide because it would
make it more complete that's all!
1. Mushroom Kingdom (Frog Coin) - Enter the Mushroom Castle
for the very first time. When you meet Toad there, he'll start talking
to you; wait until he finishes talking and starts to walk down the
hall. Follow him and jump on his head. Ride above him until he pauses
at the door, then jump onto the ledge above the door. There, just jump
upward from there and take the Frog Coin from the chest.
2. Mushroom Kingdom (Flower) - Go into the Item shop in the
Mushroom Kingdom, then go down the stairs inside. Talk to the mushroom
person in the basement, and then jump when he tells you to reveal this
chest.
3. Mushroom Kingdom (Flower) - (This may take a little while
before you can get this!) While you're in the basement of the Item
Shop, wait until the mushroom guy walks towards the corner closest to
the bottom of the stairs. When he reaches the corner, jump on his head,
then jump straight up while still in the corner to reveal the chest.
4. Bandit's Way (Kerokero Cola) - In the second area of
Bandit's Way, where you have to jump on the spinning red flowers to
jump onto the higher ledges, get to the exit of the area by another red
flower. Jump onto the flower and wait until you're facing directly to
the right, then jump to the right. You should hit the chest and take
its contents in one shot!
5. Rose Town (Frog Coin) - In Rose Town, enter the Item Shop
and get on top of the bookshelf against the back wall. Run to the
corner while on the bookcase, and then jump up at the corner to reveal
the chest.
6. Rose Town (Frog Coin) - Go to the house with the switch
inside that makes the stairs outside appear and disappear, then go up
to the second floor inside. Jump onto the bed and you'll bounce up,
hitting the chest above you.
7. Forest Maze (Kerokero Cola) - When you're in the very
first section of the Forest Maze, head to the left of the path to the
next section. Jump up in the left corner of the section to make the
chest appear.
8. Forest Maze (Frog Coin) - After you jump on the trampoline
and exit the first underground section in the forest, go diagonally to
the left of the stump you come out of. When you reach the corner, jump
up to reveal the next chest.
9. Forest Maze (Kerokero Cola) - When you reach the section
where there are 7 stumps, go down the lone stump at the very end. Get
behind the sleeping Wiggler and jump straight up right behind him to
reveal the chest.
10. Forest Maze (Flower) - In the area with the 7 stumps,
enter the very first one in the right row. Walk diagonally down to the
left and walk into the lighter area. Jump up in the middle of it to
make the chest visible again!
11. Forest Maze (NOTHING!) - Back in the area with the 7
stumps, go down the second one in the left row. Go diagonally up
towards the left to the smaller lighted area and stand so that you're
slightly up and to the right of it. Jump up there and make the empty
chest appear.
12. Forest Maze (Red Essence) - After you pass by the Save
Block before you take the path to the next area, head to the right of
the exit and jump around. You'll make the chest appear when you find
the right spot!
13. Pipe Vault (Frog Coin) - In the section where there are
six pipes in a row, each with a Piranha Plant coming out of then, go
down the second one when it's clear. Walk a tiny bit down the path, and
jump by the beginning of the higher ledge; a platform will appear! Jump
up it, then onto the ledge. Now, it's time to start "counting" the
tiles on the ledge! From the beginning of the ledge, count until you're
on the 4th tile, then jump up to reveal the chest.
14. Pipe Vault (Frog Coin) - You'll have to follow the same
procedure as the last hidden chest, but you'll have to go a bit further
this time! From the beginning, count to the 8th tile, and then jump at
that point to make this chest visible!
15. Yo'ster Isle (Frog Coin) - When you emerge out of the
Pipe Vault, you should see a Save Block nearby. Jump over it to get
behind it, then jump straight up back there to reveal the chest and
take the yet ANOTHER Frog Coin inside!
16. Booster Pass (Flower) - From the very beginning of
Booster Pass, head straight, then turn left when the path does. Jump
onto the low ledge with the green plants on it, then continue and jump
to the higher ledge. Get on top of the plant and jump up above it to
reveal the chest.
17. Booster Pass (Rock Candy) - Continue up the first area of
Booster Pass until you get up to the path to the next section. Jump
onto the plant to the left of the path and jump straight up from it to
reveal the chest containing the Rock Candy!
18. Booster Tower (Frog Coin) - In the section where an
endless supply of Snifits come down the stairs, jump up while trying
not to get attacked until you reach the top. Jump on the first dark
green tile against the back wall to reveal the chest.
19. Booster Tower (Frog Coin) - Continue through the tower
for a bit until you enter the room that you could only have accessed by
jumping on the teeter-totter below with the Thwomp. There should be a
few Snifits falling from the ceiling with parachutes in this room. Get
through this room until you see a path going into the wall just to the
side of the stairs. Go in as far as you can go, then jump up to open
the chest.
20. Booster Tower (Goodie Bag) - When you reach the room with
a Save Block and a couple ledges in the air, jump from the lowest ledge
to the highest one, but DON'T jump onto the ledge with the chest above
it yet! Instead, jump ONTO the visible chest, and then jump above it to
make the other chest appear!
21. Booster Tower (Mushroom) - In the same room you found the
last chest in, get to the other end of the room by the lowest ledge and
the path to the next room. Stand on the lighter colored tile in the
corner and jump to reveal the chest.
22. Marrymore (Frog Coin) - Enter the Marrymore Inn and check
into the regular room, not the suite. When you're in the room, jump
onto the dresser, then up to the top of the bookcase. Jump up from
there to make this chest visible.
23. Sunken Ship (Flower) - Get to the room with a clone of
Mario that mirrors your every move. Jump around diagonally down and to
the right of the middle spotlight to make a block AND the chest appear!
Now, walk and jump around so that you get the clone to the middle of
the room below the chest. When he's there, jump on his head, then up to
the chest!
24. Land's End (Flower) - In the very first section of Land's
End, jump into the cannon and get yourself onto the yellow platform
that moves up and down. Stand at the upper corner of the platform, then
when it reaches its highest point, jump straight from the platform and
you should reveal the chest. (You'll have to do this again to obtain
the chest's contents!)
25. Land's End (Flower) - In the second section, jump into
the cannon and shoot yourself out of it and land near (if not in!) the
hole in the ground. Stand right in front of the hole in the direction
of the cannon and jump up; a platform will appear. Drop back down the
ledge towards the cannon, and jump into the cannon. Wait until it's
aiming towards the platform you just revealed, then shoot yourself and
land on it. When you do, it'll start moving; from there, jump to the
top of the high ledge. Stand on the left side of the ledge and jump up
at the edge to reveal the chest.
26. Land's End (Frog Coin) - In the section where you can
jump up to the higher ledges via the spinning red flowers, or follow
the right path and pass by blue flowers; take the right path. Jump onto
the second blue flower you see then hold Y down and jump to the last
blue flower. While you're in the air, you should hit the chest; just do
the jump again to claim the coin inside!
27. Land's End (Frog Coin) - When you find and enter the cave
in the cliff that leads to Kero Sewers, go through the first part of it
until you see large steps you have to go down. In the small "alcove"
where the Chow was, jump around in it until you hit the chest.
28. Belome's Temple (Frog Coin) - In the area of the temple
after you pick your fortune, jump onto the ledge above the stairs going
down. Jump to the highest ledge, and then walk towards the chest near
the beginning of the room. Just jump onto the top of the chest, and
then jump again to reveal the chest.
29. Belome's Temple (Frog Coin) - After you go down the
stairs, you'll pass a corner on Mario's left side before you reach the
other visible chest. Stand in that corner and jump straight up to make
the invisible chest appear.
30. Monstro Town (Flower) - Enter the very last door in
Monstro Town as if you're leaving it. In that small room with the note
on the wall, jump behind the bush and jump again to reveal the chest.
31. Bean Valley (Frog Coin) - From the beginning of Bean
Valley, enter the pipe to the right. When you emerge, head left and
you'll see a path leading towards the hills down and to the left of the
left pipe. Walk to the end of that path and jump there to reveal the
chest.
32. Bean Valley (Kerokero Cola) - In the section where there
are five pipes, each with a Piranha Plant inside, lead the Shy Away to
the lower right pipe; after he waters the shriveled up plant, defeat
the more lively Piranha! Go down that pipe and follow the path around
the turn towards the chest. Count the tiles like you did back in the
Pipe Vault, and then from right underneath the visible chest, walk down
the corridor 5 or 6 tiles. Jump up when you stop and the chest should
appear.
33. Bean Valley (Red Essence) - Back in the area with the
five pipes, repeat the process with the Shy Away, but this time lure
him to the rightmost pipe. Defeat that Piranha, and then go down the
pipe and while staying against the "wall" to the right, head diagonally
up and to the right towards the yellow stairs. When you reach the
corner before you reach the stairs, jump up to make the chest appear!
34. Nimbus Land (Frog Coin) - When you get to Nimbus Land,
enter the Item Shop. Jump up the boxes in the back of the room to the
top, then hold Y and jump off the top box towards the shopkeeper. You
should hit the chest in mid-air as you jump.
35. Nimbus Land (Frog Coin) - In Nimbus Castle, get to the
hall with 3 doors. Go to the door to the left; you should see a
birdcage near it. Stand behind the cage and jump straight up to find
the chest.
36. Nimbus Land (Frog Coin) - Now, go through the left door
and get through the next room. In the following room, go down the
stairs until you reach the Jawful (enemy with the big fork). Defeat
him, then stand where he used to be and jump; the chest will appear!
37. Nimbus Land (Frog Coin) - From the spot you jumped to
reveal the last chest, turn around and walk right into the black area,
which is empty space! Follow the path until it finally ends and you
can't go anywhere else, and then jump up to reveal this chest with yet
another Frog Coin!
38. Nimbus Land (Frog Coin) - After you defeat Birdo, go
through the door in the back of the room. GO through the room, then
when you're right next to it, jump onto the chest in the air to the
right of Mario. Jump straight up while on the chest to make the chest
above it appear with ANOTHER STUPID FROG COIN!
39. Smithy Factory (Mushroom) - Go through the Factory until
you reach the second Save Block. Stand in the corner down and to the
left of the block and jump in the corner to reveal the last chest in
the game!

11. Mini-Games
*** Midas River ***
This mini-game is the most difficult one in my opinion
because it's quite hard to get every single Coin while going down the
river. In the first section of this curse, you're being sent down the
river and you'll have to press B to try and swim upstream a little.
There are 36 Coins total, including 4 Frog Coins in this area. Once you
reach the bottom, you'll move on to the barrel jumping part of the
course. There are 64 Coins total that you can accumulate in this area
and you can only get them if you follow this pattern. From the start of
the course, this is when you jump onto or hit the barrel in front of
you: hit, jump, jump, hit, hit, jump, jump, hit, hit, jump, jump, hit,
hit, jump, jump. Jump in the air to collect the single coin before the
barrel you're supposed to hit because those are the most commonly
missed coins in the whole course. After you reach the end, the mushroom
guy will add up the amount of coins you got on the river and award you
with Frog Coins depending on the number of Coins you have. If you can
get 100 Coins in one try, you get a 5 Frog Coin Bonus along with your
reward. Here's a small list that shows how much Frog Coins you get for
what:
Coins Acquired Frog Coin Price
100 Coins -- 50 Coins
90-99 Coins -- 60 Coins
80-89 Coins -- 70 Coins
70-79 Coins -- 75 Coins
*** Goomba-Thumping Game ***
In the Pipe Vault, you'll find a mole that'll let you stomp
as many Goombas as you can for 10 Coins. Scoring is as follows: Goomba
+1 point, Gold Goomba +3 points, Spikey -1 point. Get at least 20
points the first time you play and you'll get a Flower Tab. Break the
Hi Score you set again and you'll get a Flower Jar as a prize. Break
the Hi Score again and you'll get a Frog Coin. You'll win a Frog Coin
each time you break the Hi Score after that.
*** Mushroom Derby ***
At Yo'ster Isle, you can race Boshi and the other Yoshis
(only if you beat Boshi once before) using Yoshi. You can only
participate if you have cookies to wager, so talk to the pink Yoshi by
the north end of the island to get some if you're all out. The controls
for racing are actually easy when you look at them, but they can get
quite annoying when you don't go with the pattern. When the music
starts, alternate pressing A and B with the rhythm to make Yoshi go.
When you win, the cookies you receive depend upon how many cookies you
wagered and what the odds were against you.
*** Moleville Mountain ***
After you rescue the kids in Moleville, go up to the top of
the mountain and talk to the mole next to the big arrow pointing down
the hole. You could pay 10 Coins just to ride the mine cart, or you can
wager 30 Coins. If you break the record getting through the mines on
the mine cart, you'll get 50 Coins back as a prize! In the first
section of the race, it's in a Mode 7 perspective with the camera
behind Mario at all times as you navigate through the mines. In the
next part, you get a side-scrolling view. In the third part, it goes
back to the Mode 7 perspective. Finally, in the final part, it goes to
the side-scrolling view. Collect mushrooms during the course and use
them on straight-aways to go faster by pressing X. Apply the brakes by
pressing A when you're making tight turns so you don't fall off the
track!
*** Booster Hill ***
This area is only of use AFTER you've beaten Yaridovich and
went to Seaside Town to the Beetles R Us shop and bought a Beetle Box.
Then, go to the hill and run up it and catch those flying beetles. Like
the race with Booster up the hill, jump on the barrels to move closer
to the beetles, but if a barrel hits you, you fall back a bit. Here's a
list of how many coins you get for catching a certain type of beetle:
Male Beetle = 50 Coins
Female Beetle = 1 Coin
Golden Beetle = 1 Frog Coin
