1. WHAT IS TERMINAL VELOCITY?
-----------------------------

1.1     What is Terminal Velocity?
----------------------------------

Terminal Velocity is the debut release of the new Apogee offshoot 3D Realms.
Starring you as Earth's last hope against its former allies (beginning to
sound stereotypical? I thought so...) you pilot Earth's premier ship against
enemy installations and fighters. It uses a 3D engine which has realistic
texture mapped terrain over various planets. You can also fly into tunnels
under the surface.

1.2     Who makes Terminal Velocity?
------------------------------------

Terminal Velocity is made by TRI, and distributed by 3D Realms. This is their
first release. Others, coming later this year, include Ruins, Shadow Warrior
and Duke Nukem 3D.

2. PLAYING TIPS
---------------

2.1     Destroying fighters
---------------------------

To attack fighters, watch your radar, and try and turn one into the centre of the 
screen. Now keep on its tail, and hold your fire button down. Do not let up 
until the enemy is dead.

2.2     Destroying tanks
------------------------

The best way is to climb up high and do an attack run at a 90 degree angle to
the ground. The tanks seem not to be able to hit you this way, and you can
blow them to pieces then pull up inches from the ground. Makes a great stunt,
too.

2.3     Destroying ground installations
---------------------------------------

Get these in the centre of your radar and afterburn all the way there. Then
fly straight at the installation with medium speed. DO NOT LET UP, even if
you are being shot at from behind. One pass from 100 away can destroy 
installations. If you do not destroy it first time, fly past, turn round
and do another pass.

2.4     Boss 1
--------------

Fly around the boss in a tight circle taking out the small rectangular
boxes - these are his shield gens. When these have gone, it's just a 
blastfest to the death between you and it. Fire anything you've got and
pray.

2.5     Boss 2
--------------

Fly straight over the top of the buildings surrounding him. Then come 
straight down, firing. When he comes out, play chicken with him, you
should win (especially with MAMs).


2.6     Boss 3
--------------

Boss 3 - same as Boss 2. Secret boss - use head-on passes (and I mean
HEAD ON) - his missiles will miss you.

3. CHEAT CODES
--------------

3.1     What are the TV cheat codes?
------------------------------------

TRISHLD            Restores your shield.
TRINEXT            WELCOMETOTHENEXTLEVEL.
TRIHOVR            Makes you stop/hover while firing.
MANIACS            Afterburner (and something else??)
TRSCOPE            Puts an oscilliscope on your screen. Joy.
TRIBURN            Gives you afterburner, speeds afterburner up.
TRFRAME            FPS ticker.  I only get 10-12 fps (25 or so in the sky)
3DREALM            Powers up lots, including all your weapons.
TRIFIR0            30 seconds of invincibility.
TRIFIR1            Gives you PAC ammo.
TRIFIR2            Gives you ION ammo.
TRIFIR3            Gives you RTL ammo.
TRIFIR4            Gives you MAM ammo.
TRIFIR5            Gives you SAD ammo.
TRIFIR6            Gives you SWT ammo.
TRIFIR7            Gives you DAM ammo.
TRIFIR8            Gives you afterburner.
TRIFIR9            30 seconds of invisibility.

3.2     What is the benchmark key?
----------------------------------

On any of the main menu screens press Z. This gives you a set of TV 
benchmarks for your machine.

4. BUGS
-------

4.1     What bugs are there in TV?
----------------------------------


4.11    The GUS doesn't work!
-----------------------------

Run SBOS as normal, but take EMM386 out of your config files. This should
fix it. v1.1 includes ULTRAMID support.

4.12    TV freezes randomly!
----------------------------

There are many causes of this. One is being low on memory - this mainly 
manifests itself in multiplay games. You only need 500k or so low mem, but
you need quite a bit of mem overall, so take out memory managers and the
like. If it still crashes, try turning sound off. If it still crashes,
boot completely clean (hold down F5 as you boot in DOS 6.xx). If it still
crashes, wait for TV 1.1. This has now appeared - there are not nearly
so many crashes.

4.13    My joystick won't calibrate!
------------------------------------

Many suggestions have been made for this. The best, it seems, is when it
asks you to centre and press fire rotate the 'stick first, then centre and
fire. Proceed as normal afterwards.

4.2     Are there any TV patches?
---------------------------------

Yes, v1.1 and v1.2 Get them from the sites in section 1.3.

4.25    What is fixed/added in v1.1?
------------------------------------

Terminal Velocity 1.1 Release notes

- Native GUS support through UltraMID

- Domain in asin error fixed

- Fixed "Error: Unable to load texture: blast-290.raw" and like.

- Will not start up unless you have enough memory

- Runs under Windows 3.1, Windows '95, and Windows NT Workstation 3.5

- If the game seems to crash, try running from Windows.

- Enemies now spawn in front of player 75% of the time.

- Enemy spawn time more reasonable.

- Enemies don't like to be fired upon.  They dodge your shots, and try
  to get you from behind, where you cannot shoot them.  They will engage
  you if you dogfight them.  Play on Terminal level for some real fun.

- Mouse support added.  Use left button to fire, right for afterburner.
  Or use it in combination with the keyboard.

- Show screen shots of registered on shareware version when quitting.

- Addition of "Instructions" on main menu.

- Parts option to turn of parts on explosion for slower machines, and to
  set to overkill, for some busy action for those with Pentiums.

- Move tunnel on 1-1 onto flight path.  Removal of tunnel on 1-2 from flight
  path.  Too many players didn't know that you were supposed to burn through
  the tunnel on 1-2 at Terminal Velocity.

- Improvement in enemy A/I - more evasive manuevers.

- Power Core adds 25% to shields, instead of 12.5%.

- Red screen flash is now "transparent."  It lasts for .25 sec.

- Ability to "swap" y-axis on mouse control.

- Improved model memory management.  This should fix out of memory errors.

- Random lockup fix.

- Improved missile base velocity and acceleration curve.

- 40 missiles instead of 20 when you get them.

- Addition of CH flight stick w/hat.

- Even better mouse support - relative or absolute movement.  And
  sensitivity control.  Full configurability of buttons.

- Warp cheat.

- GUS does not lockup with SBOS.

- Smoke trail on missile.

- Afterburner joystick button hold fixed.

- Improve sensitivity on relative mode.

| 4.3     What is fixed/added in v1.2?

| - The mountains in mission 1 are green, with ice caps.
