I'm sad! I can't say anything more. Innocent women, children and elderly are dying right now. Can anything be more important than that? No matter your opinion of this war, don't you have compassion for the innocent who are being killed right now? It's unspeakably sad to me.

Im sad about this War and the US Goverment. I love the USA, their Citys the Lifestyle and the American Way of Life. But your President have too mutch Might in my Eys. Its not impossible that People can Claim this Position who having Nationalistic Dreams of a American Empire. The World dont need a second Empire like Rome in former Times. The new Laws in America cut the Rights of American People and the Rest of the World back with every Day. Be Careful America dont let George Orwells Book "1984" not become true. Just wanted to ask some questions to the americans in this forum...in Germany ppl say that in ur country there is very much propaganda and censorship in media...so what do u get to know and what do we get to know because I think we cannot argue if we "know" diffrent things e.g. I think it was Rumsfeld who said that there are burning some oil field near Basra in Iraq and that they got lit by the iraqi soldiers...but the news in Germany say that he sais they are burning but the journalists near Basra can't see anything...so what shall we believe? IMHO I would believe the journalists because the US government already made some "proves" which couldn't be true because of facts e.g. a paper which said that Niger (I'm not quite sure might be another african country) sent atomic-weapons or stuff to make a.-weapons to iraq and this paper was signed by a minister of Niger but this minister I think was dead when the paper was signed, the stamp on the paper wasn't quite right and it got published before it was signed... I´m hearing in all places that Bush wants the oil from the Iraq. But do you really think that he can take all the oil for him? No he can`t it isn`t his oil. If he wants the oil he have to pay it to the Iraqis in the future

Well, IMHO war sucks. Plain and simple. It has never helped anyone, it has just destroyed families, killed innocent people and annihilated whole cities. It's sad that people who don't have anything against each other have to kill and maim each other - just because some so-called "president" thinks he is almighty and can do everything he desires.
Anyways, we all know WHY this war is made - oil and the dominance of Iraq. Coincidentally, Iran HAPPENS to be next to Iraq... so why not get rid of it next? Bush just uses this war to set up the next one.
Well, let's hope this war will be over fast.

You seem to think in very short terms only.

You did not mention that ...

... USA would run out oil from domestic sources within 8 years,
given there will be no change in behaviour of US-american consumers
and industry.
... Iraq´s reserves in oil are superseded only by those of Saudi Arabia
... Iraq´s oil is of best quality
... getting oil out of Iraq´s soil is relatively easy, resulting in great profits
... CONTROL over these valuable Iraqi ressources allows to control economy
of USA´s rivals in so-called "developped" part of world

This does not mean you are not right about what you said about effect on
the military-industrial complex of USA. This was one more reason for US
presidents to bring into and to let S.H. stay in power for more than 20 years:
S.H. was a guarrantee that USA weapon industry could sell all kind of arms
to Iraq´s neighbouring regimes as well as to S.H.

During Gulf-War I (Irak vs. Rran) Mr. Kissinger said:
Isn´t it a pity that it isn´t possible for BOTH countries to loose this war?

USA´s and GB´s policy since ever is to do as much harm to (not only) Arab countries they can - using ALL kinds of mass destruction: including toxic gas.

Maybe they can't steal it but what BIG OIL is normally doing in such countrys comes very close to it:

They are devolping the country's social infrastructure
slowly for nearly all the oil they are pumping.
For at least the next 35 year's the Iraq wiil not get one drop of it's oil. The USA is making sure of that by bombing evrything they see....
( maybe a litle bid to dramatic but close)

One cannot expect that USA imperialists are interested very much in advancing
SOCIAL infrastructure of Iraq. They are not doing this in any place of the world
(not even at home) where they rule - either directly or via their native henchmen.
The opposite comes closer to truth. No more development for occupied countries
than needed to draw profit out of it. ´nuff is ´nuff.

Why else do they finance, establish, and maintain dictatory regimes wherever
they have a chance to do? Of no other reason than to raise profits for some subjects of a capitalistic society.

The western societies - the American at most - can live in (relatively) luxory
because there are other societies they can exploit.
